This kite is well made and a great bargain at this price. There are two very pretty kites in the pack and just the right size for my 8 year old granddaughter. She loves it.

This isn’t a kite for beginner. Instruction included to put butterfly kite together, simple enough. To attach kite to string handle. You usually have latch to fasten or clip the kite string to kite loop. With this kite you have to manually tie a double knot to kite loop section. If you flown kites before or setup any type of kite you know what I mean. I Loosen about 1 1/2 of the kite string, held up kite into wind & threw it in the air so it can take flight while my son dashed to catch the wind breeze. Kite catches a breeze but takes nose dive to right or left unless u know how to immediately tug string to keep kite upright. we’re at the ocean beach which had pretty strong continuous gust of wind. For a beginner it won’t be easy to fly or maintain in the air. Even for a experience kite flyer it’s going to be difficult to main this kite in air. As it tends to pull or drag to right of left and wants to take a nose dive every 1-2 minutes. Basically you have monitor this darn kite or it’s going to crash on you. The kite string isn’t very long (half the length of most beginner kite kit) so that could be a possible reason, why this kite had such a hard time maintaining its flight? If the kite string was double it length maybe it could fly higher so it could maintain it flight but it trying to take s nose dive 1-2 minutes is another issue. Anyway I would pass on this kite if your planning buying this for your kids or grandkids. Save some face & embarrassment, buy another type of kite other than this one. To show them how to fly a kite. The kite looks nice but flying it is different story…

I was skeptical and unsure will this fly. Esp. make my daughter happy. Also felt it could be difficult for my daughter to handle and she is 6. But, today is the first day we tried. My daughter really loved it. It does fly high and easy to handle. Giving 4 stars, while assembling the fabric tore in the corners we were able to fix it. Also, the thread provided as part of the package isn't sufficient. You need a longer thread and I feel we need descent wind like 10-15mph

Easy to assembly and cute, but kind of flimsy. The string is shorter too than their other kite products, so my daughter was bummed about that.

4/18/20: This is an amazing kite. I bought it as my first kite after 28 years to have some fun during the COVID-19 stay at home period. The kite is capable of flying in low wind (I can get it flying in 6 mph wind in a city park in Phoenix AZ). It is not stable in turbulent wind (low altitude). I highly suggest purchasing a long string (400+ ft) for it. Once it reaches high enough altitude, it flies gracefully for hours. It is also very easy to assemble (takes one minute) and the material and build is sturdy for the price. I have been flying it almost every day for the past month (approximately 25 assembly/disassembly cycles) with no significant degradation to the kite.I highly recommend this kite for kids and adults.5/7/20: A couple of weeks ago, we had stronger winds in Phoenix (between 15 to 20 mph). The kite flew erratically and after 40 minutes it came down crashing. Upon inspection, I found that one of the plastic rods that act as the skeleton had ripped the stitching that attaches it to the wing.I was able to easily fix it with a simple sawing kit. My observation is that the kite flies stably in wind speeds of 6 to 15 mph. Once the wind gets faster, the kite starts vibrating (flapping) too hard which causes too much stress on the kite.If you are considering using this kite in an area with winds faster than 15 mph, I suggest reinforcing the stitching proactively before plastic rods lose their support.I have been using an app called the Windfinder to monitor the wind speed and wind forecast and to plan flying the kite when the wind speed is between 6 to 15 mph.I hope you enjoy flying this great kite.8/31/20 The kite still flies well. I found a trick for setting up the kite to fly in low wind (less than 12 mph) vs. high wind (greater than 12 mph). There is a four pronged plastic piece in the middle of the spine in the back (the two rods from the wings also get attached to it) that should be used for your setting. For low wind, turn the black piece in such a way that when you connect the wings, they angle toward the main string. This makes the kite concave and it catches the wind easily. The downturn is that in high wind it causes a lot of vibration and erratic flight. For high wind, do the opposite. Turn the black piece the way that after connecting the wing rods, they angle away from the main string. This makes the kite convex which helps with deflecting wind in high wind. The downside is that in this configuration is almost impossible to get a lift in low wind.Hope this tip helps you out.12/29/20 The end of year update. The kite is still flying well. Since purchasing this kite, I have moved to flying larger and more expensive kites. The larger kites are beautiful to watch in the sky but they need stronger wind to fly due to their higher weight. This butterfly kite is still my go to kite when the wind is slower than 10 mph.
