About this item

  • METAL TO METAL STRONG - The Helmet Clip is Stainless Steel Constructed. Avoid plastic helmet strap mounts or other chin strap clips where the metal has been altered.
  • EASY TO INSTALL - This is a Kit, designed to make it easy to install on your helmet chin strap. Our new design allows for installation without removing the Snap on the Helmet Chinstrap. Please watch the video for the correct installation instructions.
  • INSTALLS ON HELMET D-RINGS - Scan the QR Code for the video! The Helmet Clip uses a Double Nylon Strap Mounting System to quick connect to your helmet. The dual strap system feeds through the helmet D-Rings the same way you would feed your helmet chin strap. The heavy-duty stainless utility snaps keep everything neat.
  • EXTENDS HELMET CHIN STRAP LENGTH - If you are in need of a little more chin strap length for your motorcycle, motocross, or snowmobile helmet, the Helmet Clip may be just what you are looking for as speed clip replacement for your existing retention system. Because the strap length will increase by approximately 1 inch, the Helmet Clip works best on 3/4 open face or half helmets.
  • SMOOTH RATCHETED BUCKLE - Our stainless steel buckle is very easy to use, even while wearing gloves. Our research shows our metal ratcheted chin strap was preferred over plastic ratcheted buckles, metal seat belt type buckles or pinch and squeeze together chin strap adapter kits.
  • NEW IMPROVED DESIGN - Allows easy installation without having to remove the snap on the helmet chin strap.

Product Description

The easy to install Helmet Clip helmet quick release buckle kit.

Easy Install Helmet Quick Release

Easy Install Helmet Quick Releae Buckle Kit

Our patent-pending design is a refreshing alternative to helmet quick-release buckles of the past. The Helmet Clip design makes for easy installation and requires no tools. The results of our independent tensile testing reports, that the Helmet Clip exceeded the requirements for helmet chinstrap retention by 92% and scored 70% higher than the rest of the helmet quick releases tested.

Industrial Testing Results - Twice as Strong! Stays on Longer!

Helmet Clip Test Results

Helmet Clip

After 597 Pounds of force, the manufacturer's D-rings began to warp and the yellow area indicates a period where the Helmet Clip was still holding after the D-rings started to bend.

Notice how the main buckle on the Helmet Clip remained undamaged.

RydeWear Test Results

Inferior Metal

The product that claimed to be the strongest, had the worst test results. All metals are not equal. Diecast Metal or Pot Metals are typically used for toys and costume jewery, not safety equipment. 2 out of the 3 test results were below industry standards for motorcycle helmet retention systems.

Weak Sliders

Failed Sliders

100% of test samples using Slider Buckles abruptly broke because of the Slider Buckle.

In this example and the last, you can see an abrupt decline in the product's performance, once the max load has been reached. Products that use Slider Buckles have proven unreliable for helmet retention systems.

What to Avoid when it comes to Comfort and Safety.

Comfort

An Uncomfortable Ride

Nobody wants to be uncomfortable while on a motorcycle ride. Especially a long ride. Try to avoid D-ring conversion kits that sit on top of your helmet's D-rings. Having the D-Rings dig into your jaw for a couple minutes might be ok. But, this would probably uncomfortable for an extended ride.

Weak Sliders

Sliders Fail in Testing

100% of the products tested that used Slider Buckles broke becuse of the slider. Once the Slider breaks, the entire strap comes off and so can your helmet. What might seem to be a solid product is only as strong as it's weakest link.

Plastic Breaks

Plastic Fastners Break Easy

Prior to submitting samples for industry testing, the products needed to pass our preliminary drop test of 15 pounds from an 8ft height, Not a single plastic product passed the preliminary test and were not submitted for industry testing. Some plastic products we could pull apart just by tugging on them. We would not recommend using a plastic quick connect on your motorcycle helmet.

Small Screw

Risk Everything on a Screw?

In an unexpected collision, the force of impact can exceed 500 pounds of force on a motorcycle helmet There are some products using a tiny screw to secure it to the helmet. Is that that what you want to rely on in a critical moment?

There's a Wrong Way and a Right Way

This is the wrong way! Do not install your Helmet Clip like this. Misleading advertising from others claims that this way of attaching to the D-rings is unsafe. We agree. The Helmet Clip is designed to weave in and out of your D-rings as you see in the next photo.

Wrong Way!

Right Way!

Smaller than I thought!

Updated Design Requires No Tools!

Quick release with gloves

Works well with Gloves

Gloves are not an issue when it comes to operating the Helmet Clip buckle. We paid close attention to rider needs when designing this helmet quick release.

Helmet Quick Relase witout cutting

No need to Cut the Chin Strap

The Helmet Clip is designed to allow you to feed your helmet chinstrap through the slots without having to cut the snap off the end of your chinstrap. Should you decide to remove or transfer your Helmet Clip to another helmet, you can do so without altering your helmet!

I hate D Ring Straps. I know they work well, but they are finicky and with gloves they're impossible. This fixes that issue. This is super sturdy and I trust it not to break in a wreck if I get unlucky. It's easy to install. It looks like it comes with whatever helmet you're putting it on.It does make the strap a little longer, but so far not to causing an issue. Feels a little worse than the normal set-up just because it's metal, but nothing extremely uncomfortable.

I've used this product almost daily for about a year. I love it. I use my bike as a daily driver and not fiddling with D rings is nice.Installation was very easy on my Scorpion EXO AT960 modular ADV-style helmet. I did NOT have to remove any snaps or rivets from my helmet strap, like the instructions suggested. It took some work, but I got the strap through the buckle. It was a good thing I didn't remove the snap from the helmet strap. The snap on the Quick Release Buckle broke a few days ago. I'm not exactly sure when it happened. Last weekend I took a 4 day ADV/Dual Sport ride. I took the helmet off a lot as we stopped frequently. Maybe that was too much for that little metal snap? That being said, I'm ordering a replacement! The price is very fair and if I only get another year of use out of the next one, I'll still be happy!I'd give this item a 5 star review if it didn't fail. To be fair, most riders won't put this on their dirt/off road helmets which get yanked on and off multiple times per ride.

This device does work, it fit my HJC I90 helmet straps. I did not have to remove a snap.It was extremely difficult to get the straps short enough to feel like this is doing anything to hold the helmet on. Something about the physics of this device causes the strap to tighten across a slightly different spot under my chin. Without this device the strap tightens a little further forward, closer to my chin. With the device, it tightens closer to my throat. I don't like the choking feeling of having it on my throat. I shortened the straps as far as humanly possible and it's not as tight as I usually rode with the D-rings, but then again, I couldn't stand it being as tight because I would feel choked. The device includes a little rubber piece (which I'm holding in the picture) to cover the metal male buckle insert. EVERY time I try to insert the male end into the buckle that rubber piece slides off. I've given up on keeping it in place, it doesn't really do anything anyway. I cannot yet operate this buckle one-handed. Maybe in time with more practice I'll be able to.I didn't like my HJC I90 chin strap because the Dring was smaller than on my previous helmet and harder for my thick fingers to operate. This device is easier to use than fumbling with the Drings, but not by a huge margin. I've been using Drings for 35+ years so even with small ones I can thread the other end through every time. With this device, I'm blinded trying to stab the male end into the buckle and even without gloves on it's hit or miss. I guess I'll get better at that with practice. I CAN take it off with one hand, so that's good.Overall I'm not upset that I bought it. I'm going to give it some time and see if I get used to the throat feel, and get better at connecting the pieces. I'm very glad that I can go bck to the helmet's Drings if I end up not liking this.
