The plat fits over my heavy-duty T-posts (1.33 pounds per foot) and I have no doubt it is tough enough for the job of pulling them out of the ground. The plat appears to be made of mild steel and is just over 14 mm thick and the chain is more than adequate 7 mm diameter nickel-plated steel or stainless and 36 inches long. The S hook is 10 mm thick nickel-plated steel or stainless steel as well. I can't tell for sure what the material is but I was able to scratch it with my calipers. If it rusts after some use, I will update to confirm the material, but I personally don't care what the material is as long as it gets the job done. The chain fit into the slot on the plat and there is room in the slot for an even larger chain up to 9 mm thick.
