These are not made out of light weight aluminum like so many others, They DO attract magnets so they are some type of alloy - possibly a cousin of steel. Initial testing reveals a very good spring. I will use them outside in snow activities and report back. A good value for the money! If they hold their shape after some heavy winter use, this could be the best deal on Amazon.

These are heavy duty carabiners and feel very solid. They have a nice, firm spring closure, which I prefer over the gate lock style. According to the description, there are supposed to be four heavy duty clips and two light duty clips, but I only received the four heavy duty ones along with the key rings. Not a big deal for me, since I really only wanted the larger clips, but probably just a shipping error. The description says that the large clips can hold up to 880lbs - I can't test that, but I don't doubt it. I have other lighter duty clips that I use to hold water bottles, accessories, hang a tennis bag on a fence, etc., but sometimes you need something much stronger that definitely won't fail, and these should do it.
