The handle senses your hand which completes the circuit and causes it to warm up. It warms very slowly so it takes a while to warm the the point of scooping hard ice cream.

Tried it for the first time last night. It worked great. I could feel the heat on it. It’s a keeper. Cut thru the ice cream fairly easily.

Purchase this item for my husband for Christmas 🎄 he loved it “go figure” He said works well because it heats up it makes getting the ice cream so much easier. Great value for the money.

This scoop charges with a USB cord. My son had taken it out of the box. So I didn't get to read instructions. However, it seems like it self heats, not hot to the touch. My son has autism and motor function issues, and this scoop made it possible for him to scoop his own ice cream unattended. It gave him the independence to do it all himself and his smile was worth the price. I highly recommend this product, even just to make scooping easier for anyone.

Used this with my new ninja creami machine. It takes a little to heat up, and none of my thermometors reflect the same temp which its display says it is.... BUT it works like a champ regardless. Scoops out, drops the ice cream ball onto plate !
