It evenly distributes heat to your pot or pan. But is great for delicate easily burned items.I use it for everything, but in particular stone ground grits. Really anything that is proned to stick if not stirred often.

This caused a fire on my stove top the first time I used it. And I had it on the lowest setting! The metal also started melting and ruined my induction stovetop. Just don’t do it! I so regret buying this.

Works great when used upside down, if used the correct way with the feet down, the concentration of heat from the plate will melt/damage the top surface of the induction stove as the plate gets to hot and concentrates the heat on the induction stove top in the feet of the plate to the induction stove. If you place the plate upside down "flat side down" the heat gets dispersed evenly on the induction stove top and does not cause damage. Id consider this a design flaw for induction stoves in the heat plate.

I bought this because I needed a plate to put on my stove so my vintage teapot could have a sturdy place to sit. I've used this teapot on the open flame of my stove on the hottest burner multiple times...one time on this plate, it destroyed my teapot - like it melted the feet of my freaking teapot. This thing gets well over 1200F on the lowest setting of my smallest burner...so if you want something that can melt metal, this is your gadget. If not, go with a cast iron plate because my MIL let me use her cast iron plate and it NEVER did this to my teapot.

This is my second or third brand of induction adapter plate, and by far my favorite. All the others before have warped to the point they're unusable after relatively few uses. This has stayed flat as the day it arrived. Even the discoloration, while present and unavoidable, is way less pronounced than on other brands.The handle design is also a big plus, you don't need the handle 99% of the time, so it's awesome that you can detach it and have the plate be a perfectly round disc rather than stick out into everything else you have on the stove.
