When you are sick going out for new batteries just sucks. An old school mercury stick is always ready. Probably not great for kids though.

I ordered the thermometer and it came with two in the package. The glass itself was not broken on either but both appear to have faulty manufacturing. There is nothing that tells the temperature - no line that goes up or down with the increase or decrease in temperature.

They work fine the only issue I have had is they only have Celsius reading rather than Fahrenheit. It does have a marking for a normal reading though. My temperature doesn’t read properly on a forehead thermometer and that is why I wanted the old style mercury thermometer.

I just got my pair (yes, 2) of thermometers earlier today. Both were in tact without any issues. I was initially concerned that those would arrive damadged because of reviews that other people posted - I guess luck was on my side this time.My wife used this thermometer right away to measure her temperature and it showed result that match result from one of electronic thermometers that we have.Reason why I chose to buy this product: i got very tired of those electronic thermometers costing $$$ and not giving correct results. In past 3 years I spend over 250$ getting different thermometers and still couldn't be confident in results that I was getting (sounds funny, right?). Mercury Free thermometers stop working over time. I have like 5 non-touch ones all show different results over time. With this thermometer, assuming that you got not a deffective one and that it was not damadged during shipping, you will for sure know what tempreature you have.I think for people who were born in US the Celcius scale looks odd, but you can always use online tools to convert it.it is also pretty simple to read, at least that's what they tought me back in my school years:- 36.6C - normal body temperature- 37.2C - temperature that indicate infection process in the body- 38C - feverPackage didn't have any instructions, so if you never seen one, just search on youtube: how to use a mercury thermometer.I guess because this thermometer contains mercury, I prefer to measure temperature in armpit. And don't forget to hold thermometer in place for 3-5 minutes (or even longer) and check if value still changes. This one won't show you result right away and takes time to measure.

I never write one star reviews, but this one earned it. One thermometer came with the mercury outside the thermometer and rolling around the carrying case. The other one has no mercury in it whatsoever. You can also see the numbering isn’t even aligned on one of them and is blank for the first 2 inches. They have no return policy so don’t risk it.
