Developed by farmers for farmers and recommended for the fast and convenient extraction of core samples for testing purposes. Probes methodically collect samples without mess or touching of the sampled materials. The inside diameter of the shaft smaller than the cutting tip so samples stay loose for easy bagging with the cleanout rod between samplings. Cleanout rod pushes up to 20 core samples into a 1-gallon zip-lock bag that is suspended from the ABS protective shield. The heat-treated, hardened steel, serrated tip provides aggressive cutting action. A protective cap is included. Shaft and connections are made of stainless steel. A cordless drill is recommended. One-year warranty.

Deep probe for round and square hay bales. It has worked as it should with the bags to collect. Love it.

Works well in the field with a cordless 5Ah battery in a 1/2" drill. Took 18 samples - the probe did a good job penetrating, but I needed a more powerful drill I think. The probe has a very sharp serrated hardened tip for cutting through the hay bale.Would highly recommend but it is pricey, but it is made in the USA!!!

This probe seems well made and I believe will last a lifetime. I've used it once on about ten round bales and it does what it's advertised to do. Excellent tool. The instructions suggest using a cordless drill, and I used my DeWalt 20v. It did the job, barely. It takes a lot of torque to run that probe in all the way. My direct experience is on the tenth bale smoke was coming out of my drill which was piping hot so I abandoned drilling any more core samples. My suggestion is to use a beefy 110v plug-in drill and save any cordless drills from what in my opinion qualifies as drill abuse.

They are overprices for what you get but they all seem to run in this price range. The quality seems good enough but I have not actually hooked it up and used it yet.

Thus works great, better then the hand one. Sure beats paying for the vet to come out.

I have used it only to sample one load of hay ... Worked GREAT! Nice that I don't have to stop and empty each core sample. Be aware that if you are using a cordless drill, start with FRESH batteries, and prepare to change batteries after 10-ish bales. Drilling cores out of hay takes a lit of energy!
