Tell pesky parasites to ‘bug off’ with the Hartz UltraGuard Plus Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs & Puppies. This collar kills and repels both fleas and ticks on pups with necks up to 22 inches for 7 months, and also prevents flea eggs from hatching for over half the year - stopping the flea life cycle and inhibiting reinfestation. The water resistant design remains effective even after getting caught in the rain. For continuous flea and tick protection from head to tail, replace the collar every 7 months. For use on puppies 12 weeks of age and older. Directions: Remove collar from package, unroll and stretch to activate insecticide generator. Do not use on puppies under 6 weeks of age. Do not unroll collar until ready to use. Place the collar around the dog’s neck, adjust for proper fit and buckle in place. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the dog and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over the dog’s head. Leave 2 or 3 inches on the collar for extra adjustment and cut off and dispose of the extra length. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged or medicated pets. Sensitivity may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. Some animals may become irritated by the collar if it is applied too tightly. If this occurs, loosen the collar. If irritation continues, remove the collar and bathe your dog with mild soap and rinse with large amount of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. Do not use this product on dogs simultaneously or within 30 days before or after treatment of other flea and tick products. However, flea and tick collars may be replaced immediately.

After wearing the collar for a week and a half, my dog started to act very sick and lethargic, had long strings of drool hanging out one side of her mouth, didn't want to eat and was making a raspy/funny sound when breathing. She is a healthy 1 yr old Husky mix. We took off the collar and she was so much better a day later. It really scared us. It was the collar that she was having a bad reaction to.

I spent about four dollars for two of these. I got them because my neighbor's dog has fleas and ticks and my chihuahuas kept getting them no matter what we did. We used tweezers to remove them and flea and tick shampoos but nothing worked long term. The necklaces have been on the dogs for about a week now and they definitely have less fleas on them. You can tell that the necklace releases a powder that covers their coat which isn't great (you can't see it but you CAN feel it) but they seem healthy and there's no irritation so far. I followed the instructions and followed the directions on the packaging and didn't use nay other product right before the necklaces. I also left the necklaces loose enough just so that they didn't fall off and so far all good!

The first time i bought this collar for my dog, it seems to work fine. It will NOT get rid of all the fleas on your dog, that's impossible! But it does help reduce the amount of fleas. This was about a year ago and the collar has since been thrown away. Recently, i decided to purchase another just to help keep everything in check. This time my dog's skin is having a allergic reaction to it. It's causing rash on my dog's neck. I'm not sure if it's the collar that is causing this? I read the reviews on this product and found a similar situation with another person. So now i'm having mixed feeling about this product?

I have purchased some natural flea collars for twice as much that did nothing at all.My two dogs, that sit outside on runs for hours a day, haven't picked up any ticks since these went on.The last other brand i tried i would pull full live ticks off right under the collar. The smell is pleasant, compared to that of dog.I only bother with them during the summer months (massachusetts) and figure they last about 2 months. Once the smell is gone, and you see a live tick, replace them. I much prefer the collars over the drops. They work better in my experience, and longer.

Works as good as the drops but much cheaper!I've had this on my dog for six months and he's still flea-free. I take him to the dog park every day, so he gets exposed to a lot of fleasHe has had no irritation and or other obvious ill-effects. (In contrast he hates the drops, probably for good reason.) For the first couple weeks or so, there was a noticeable smell but it's not terrible. I take it off for baths but he's got it wet many times and it still works.I really can't think of any negatives.

seemed to do its job. never found a flea or tick on my puppy and i know there are at least some ticks in the yard because my other dog had one crawling on him. that being said, I don't take my puppy hiking or through tall grass and brush. She just stays in our large yard. While the other dog is a hiker and manages to brush up against every piece of foliage in the forest and has easy grasp fur for all the ticks. for my hiking dog, he gets a seresto collar. ticks still grab on but never have seen one attached yet. for my puppy who doesn't go out much, i put the hartz collar on her (also because she's between the small and large collar sizes so i don't want to get her an expensive collar til she is more towards her adult size. never found a flea or tick on her, but once again, she isn't as exposed to them as my other dog. probably will not use again in the future, not because of its affordability or effectiveness, but because when my two dogs play with each other, my older dog likes to mouth her neck and collar a lot and i don't feel comfortable having a poisonous collar in his mouth. will switch to a spot treatment probably.

The seller was Amazon. I paid 4 bucks, including shipping. My small dog is only 7-8 pounds; the collar can be cut to fit.I've used this brand in the past, and it has worked fine. My main concern is ticks. I only place it on my dog before we go on hiking or backpacking trips (April-early Sept), and I remove it from him when we get home. Even so, when we get home, I check my dog carefully--and he likes that, since he gets rubbed all over. :-) So far, no ticks.
