  • Extendable cloth junction prolongs electrode life
  • Stainless steel round connector eliminates bent or broken pins during electrode replacement

The Hanna Instruments HI 73127 is a replacement pH electrode for Hanna pHep 4, pHep 5, and Combo testers and has an extendable cloth junction and a stainless steel round connector. A pH electrode is commonly attached to a pH meter to measure the pH of a substance such as water, food, beer, or wine in lab, industrial, and food applications. This electrode has an extendable cloth junction to prolong electrode life. The stainless steel round connector eliminates bent or broken pins during electrode replacement. The electrode works with the HI 98127, HI 98128, HI 98121, HI 98129, and HI 98130 testers.

An electrode, also called a sensor or probe, is an instrument used with a meter to test and measure parameters of a substance. All electrodes are probes or sensors, but not all probes are electrodes or sensors. Probes, such as temperature probes, are used to penetrate a material for measurement. Common electrode types are pH, total dissolved solid (TDS), and ion selective electrode (ISE). Electrodes can be half-cell or full-cell (also called combination) types. They can be refillable or non-refillable. Housing material is typically glass or epoxy, and sensors are commonly made with stainless steel or a glass bulb. pH electrodes, which measure the pH of a substance, often have a glass bulb. The bulb senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter. Ion selective electrodes (ISEs) respond selectively to ions in the presence of other ions. Electrodes are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists in a wide variety of industries, such as aquaculture, agriculture, chemistry, food and beverage, wine-making and water-testing, and for scientific applications. An electrode can be used with a datalogger to assist in temperature measurement.

Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.

Arrived and sat around for 90 days before installing in my pH probe. So simple, read 7.01 pH with my calibration solution which matched my expectation.

Great product worked good for both of my hanna instruments HI98127 ph meters.N8ce to be able to replace the probe rather than the whole unit.My first HI98127 is about 4 years old and the other is atleast 10 still going strong with new batteries and electrode

I read the reviews but needed this quickly. I was happy to receive a replacement that was still nice and moist, after calibrating it was like new again!

Spare arrived all dried out. I should have read other reviews who claim the same. I would not purchase from vendor again as this is old stock. Once the bulb dries it cannot be used for reliable PH measurement.

exactly as described, works perfectly - A lot cheaper than replacing the entire meter!

I only had to buy this because the HI98128 that I also bought from Amazon came to me dry and malfunctioning. And by the time I did anything about it, it was too late to return the unit. So I ordered this, and it also came to me dry but at least it's working after letting it sit in a storage solution overnight. My recommendation is to try to buy one locally if possible, and if you have to buy it from Amazon, test it soon after getting it so you can return it if needed. Also, you can buy the replacement tool if you want, but removing a dead electrode is pretty easy with good pliers, especially since you don't have to worry about damaging it since you're not going to keep it. Putting in the new electrode is fairly easy without pliers. I just did it with my hands and a ruler to twist it in to place.
