Love these navy shorts for my girls to wear under their uniform dresses. My 8 year old who is tiny and my 5 year old who is average are both wearing the XS. I bought S first but returned because they were too big for both of them.

My daughter typically wears a size 12 in kids clothes. She ranges from L-Xl. I got her the large in these and they have room to spare. We rolled the top so that helped. It will work for what she needs for volleyball but they definitely run large. I do like that they aren’t quite as short as other volleyball shorts for a 10yr old.

These are great under skirt cartwheel shorts. The waist band is wide, so it doesn't dig into child's stomach. The bottom has a little room, not tightly fit around the thigh like some may want, but it's not like regular shorts - it is not too long and works great under skirts. It's regular Hanes T-shirts like material, soft and slightly stretchy. My daughter is 5yo wears size 6, and XS fit well and comfortable after a hot wash and dryer and I feel like she can wear these for next few years.

I purchased these shorts for my 11 year old daughter size Large which is the size she would normally wear in these shorts. They are huge on her. They are not true to size. I took them for myself and I could've sized down as well. Otherwise the shorts are great material and comfortable.
