Truly unique handmade Wine Goblet
This beautiful Wine Goblet is part of the Glas Range made by Castle Arch pottery in Kilkenny. It measures 7 inches tall with a diameter of 3 inches. It is glaze finished which gives it a nice shine and smooth feel. The color of the goblet is best described as a green with a hue of blue. It is a beautiful piece with products of this design and quality hard to come by. A very popular gift item and a true quality piece of Irish handmade pottery. A native of Cork, Ray Power set up Castle Arch Pottery in the Autumn of 1993 in Kilkenny’s famous Castle Yard, which site under the gaze of Kilkenny Castle. Each piece is made in small production batches on the potter’s wheel, allowing great attention to be paid to decorative details such as handles, sprigs and to the fluent slip-trailed decoration with embossed surfaces. The penultimate stage sees each piece bisque fired to 1000cc before the final glazing and firing again to 1200cc. This guarantees the pottery will be both microwave and dishwasher safe. This traditional approach, typical of Irish country potteries, ensures that Castle Arch Pottery maintains its unique character. The glazes used are both luscious and eye catching which have been developed over the past 15 years. Taking inspiration from Celtic patterns such as the Newgrange spirals and traditional motifs and prints handed down through centuries of pattern making. The mission of Castle Arch Pottery is to make bold honest pieces that will stand out and enhance any domestic setting be it formal or decorative.

There is a design flaw with a small hole at the bottom of the stem. This allows water to get in the stem when the goblet is washed, then it drips out while one is trying to drink from it, getting water on the imbiber. The hole 🕳️ s small, so it is very difficult to purposely shake the water out. I have concern mold could grow inside the stem.

Was in ireland two weeks ago visited studio on Butler castle grounds. Wanted wine carafe and and two goblets but greennot available that day. And no room in luggage. Got home and discovered I could get it thu amazon. Wow great pieces

This cup/chalice exceeded my expectations. It is beautifully made and arrived intact. It was wrapped in more bubble wrap than I have seen in a long time, which was good. This will be used as a second chalice for Holy Communion at my church.

I wanted an epic old school vessel to drink from on my B-Day and this was perfect. I bought a couple and they look great as decorations as well. Worth the price for sure. They arrive well protected. Now a trip to Ireland to buy one in person.

****update**** got the replacement asap, and in perfect condition, is such a beautiful piece! Exactly what I wanted as a gift, we love it!!!! I completely recommend and I may be buying more to make a set for myself!!!!For now it gets a 1 star but I'll update when I get my replacement. Bought as a Christmas gift. It came in a box inside the box it looked very secure, the bubble wrap was thick and taped tight, but when my daughter gently cut away the tap the goblet was in shattered in pieces. She was so looking forward to this chalice made ok n Ireland, but was so disappointed to open it. From the pieces we held up it looked beautiful. Luckily we were le to an exchange a d a new one is on the way. I will update to five stars once we open the new one and ots not broken, because it looked like it would be a beautiful piece if not IN pieces
