Fantastic for preschool. Bigger size counters not easy to swallow. Very durable and washable. Nice for counting and sorting.

I am so pleased with this set of counters. They actually look nicer in person. Loose parts like these are such a great play item to have around, because kids will find endless ways to use them. Of course they are great for discussing the weather, sorting, matching, etc. But they can also end up being a million other things in the course of imaginative play. Love open-ended toys, and this is a great set!

Love, love, love this set. Added them to a weather themed week for preschool. They were just the right size for our ten frames. Enough materials for small group work. Didn’t smell at all and had a nice smooth finish.

The pieces arrive in a plastic tub, which has a handle built into the lid - a nice touch, making it easier for a child to carry them. There are 72 counters in total. These are split into 6 shapes, with each shape having two counters in each of 6 colours. The sun measures 4cm across. The snowflake is about 3.8cm from point to point. The cloud is about 4.7cm at the widest point x 3.3cm at the tallest point. The raindrop is 2.3cm x 3.8cm.The wind is 4.8cm x 3cm wide max. They have depths between 0.4cm (the tops of the wind) and 1xm (the clouds and the centre of the sun). The sizes make these fairly chunky pieces, and they're sturdy as they're made from a slightly pliable recycled plastic. This also makes them relatively easy to keep clean. These lend themselves to discussions about weather (and how you can report more than one type at the same time, as well as on the same day), sorting by shape and/or colour, and counting. There are several suggestions in the booklet that comes with them, and can be found inside the tub. When I requested these they were priced at £16.29, but at the time of writing this review they're now £18.00Although there are a number of ways of using these (and despite the fact they're sturdy), I feel both these prices are a little high unless the child shows interest in discussing the weather.

My little girl loves this set! Lots of fun colours and shapes and the leaflet inside provides quite a few great ideas to teach and play. Very versatile set, the counters are good quality and size and perfect for little hands. Lots of hours of fun to be had, we are very excited to have received this Learning Resources Explore the Weather Counters. Would definitely recommend!

We love playing with little manipulatives. My preschooler enjoyed sorting the counters in to rows to double check they were all present upon delivery. I plan to use them in sensory bins throughout the year. We are going to freeze the snowflakes in ice cubes for an easy activity. Hiding the manipulatives in playdough will serve as a great fine motor activity on a rainy day.
