I have several emergency radios, as our area experiences annual power outages (or even more frequently) that are almost always weather related. This radio is larger, and heavier, than the others. It contains a 20,000 mAh battery that can be charged by plugging it in, my a solar cell, or my a hand crank. My experience with the latter two methods is they take a LONG TIME to recharge, as in 10 hours or more of cranking, and several days of sun exposure. In my opinion, they are marketing gimmicks.20,000 mAh is a decently large battery, though. The radio receives AM, FM and Weather Band, and the reception is decent. The volume gets REALLY loud, and the included telescoping antenna does a good job of grabbing local channels. In addition to being a radio, this product has two flashlights: one on the end that acts like a regular flashlight, and one is a flip up light on the side that is easily missed, to be used for reading. Plus, if you hold down the flashlight power button, a VERY loud siren will go off that can be heard a long way away. The radio can also be used to recharge USB powered devices, including your cell phone. This size battery should recharge your phone at least one, and maybe more times, depending on your phone.I guess this technically gives you the ability to hand crank recharge your phone...in theory.A shoulder strap is included if you want to strap this thing on, or maybe hang it.This is now my preferred emergency receiver, and I can highly recommended it. Just don't expect much out of the solar panel or hand crank.

For a small backpack radio, this is great. Light is bright, it will charge a cell phone and reception on the radio is great.
