Nice black color, goes on my paper smoothly. So glad I found these thick charcoals to cover a wide surface. Highly recommend!

Excellent charcoal for drawing, painting underlayment. It's hard enough to leave a thin, very dark line but also chunky enough to lay down a wide swath. Experientially gratifying charcoal.

Easy to apply, a bit large to hold but you can cut or break to fit in your hand. Smooth application as long you don't apply too much pressure. Like this product very much.

Willow charcoal is very soft and can be really messy. This set has a couple of sizes, but both are quite large. It's nice charcoal and will last for a large project or two. They came in a plain cardboard box and some bubble wrap. It doesn't look pretty for gifting, but then again, it's some burned sticks for drawing. The packaging did it's job because all of the charcoal sticks arrived intact which is almost unheard of for something so soft.

Got these for my niece who just recently got into charcoal drawing. She said she LOVED these for being able to do large-scale backgrounds instead of the skinnier sticks.
