Was shocked by how well it was packaged. Lots and lots of styrofoam. Overall, I like the tone and the playability. Action was pretty much where I wanted it. Thank you, Grote,

Quality was subpar when recieved. Edges were rough and some blemishes, but as expected for the price. Tone was nice. Everything worked, however, there was fret buzz on one of the strings. I tried adjusting the action, it helped a lot but did not completely fix the issue. A more experienced player may be able to fix this with some effort. Wouldn't gig with it, may be decent for a beginner.

I wanted a semi hollow for jazz style music and was very impressed with the Harley benton I had got a couple of years ago. I got this Grote 335 and there were several high frets, awful tuners, the nut is a mess, but worst of all it has a very twisted neck that makes it unplayable for me. No adjusting of truss rod would fix so I basically wasted $200. If you want to throw away money then buy this guitar, otherwise, don't. My Harley Benton once the frets were leveled plays like a Cadillac, nice and smooth and just a pleasure to play for hours. All can really do with the Grote is look at it. Very disappointed in this guitar.

I have had mine for three years. I had been looking for a cheap guitar for a project. I had heard good things about Grote and I wanted a electric spanish style body with P90s. My plan was to upgrade the electric parts and tuners. I was going back and forth on pulling the trigger when I noticed if I got an Amazon CC they'd knock off $100, So I pulled the trigger for $89. I was more than impressed and pleased with the build quality. Neck is very friendly and easy, though I hit the fingerboard and frets with 0000 steel wool and the red finish on the body feels a bit coarse. I replaced the tuners with Grover Roto-matics and that was it. The pickups are very pleasing to my ears. They can be very pretty and also knarly. The pots, switch and jack are fine. The bridge is good enough. Everytime I pick it up I play for hours. Whether a beginner or experienced, this is a good guitar, especially for the money. I also have the jazz version in natural with a single P90. TBH, it might even be nicer. Stays in tune and plays great.

P90 semi hollow red.Ok, I removed the crap strings ,soaked the neck and entire body with a good coat of mineral oil. Man it popped! It was very dull and neck was dry. The p 90s sound great! Playing and playing it. No major issues worth every penny.

This guitar has very low action and can be played in any style. The P90s sizzle and you can certainly play heavy metal or blues rock jazz with this guitar. The fit and finish is very good except for the f holes needed a little bit of touch up to be nice and smooth but once that was done look at the rest of the guitar seems to be very well made. I've been playing this for about 6 months now and even though the tuners have a lot of slack it holds two very well. I'm enjoying this guitar very much and at the price it's an unbelievable value.

I thought, for the price that this guitar would be cheap feeling and sort of junky. I figured it is trying to accomplished too much for too little money. In truth, it is not junky or cheap in any way. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years and I make a living off my guitar playing and singing. This is a REALLY nice guitar! (I bought the red one). Every single detail of this guitar is high quality, it may look cheap in some of the images but it is not. A few reviewers said it was cheap... they were wrong. It is made solid and rugged and it is not heavy. I hate heavy guitars, they tire me out and they are not fun to play after about 4 hours of playing them. This guitar is both rugged and light, both very good features. Its sound is sweet and the craftsmanship is precise and prefect. It is not loaded with abalone and gold inlays, but who needs all of that, it has what is important. Good tuners, pickups, it is solid and well built and a nice matte finish for video work. I am very glad I went out on a limb and bought this. The pickups are sweet and mellow and the action is perfect right out of the box, the inlayed banding around the edges is flawless and the wood is finely crafted. Also, no sharp frets. I simply can find no fault... This is an envious guitar to own. I'm glad I decide to buy it over other options. It has an earthy look and feel, perfect guitar.

I had seen some reviews of inexpensive semi hollow guitars, on you tube including some Grotes. The reviews were good so I looked at them on Amazon. This particular guitar caught my eye, due to the P-90’s. As I was looking at it, a pop-up appeared on the screen, offering the guitar for $79.00, if I signed up for a prime credit card. Well twist my arm.The top of the guitar appears to be a photo finish. The back and sides look like mahogany or some other open grained wood, that has not been filled. It has a satin finish on the entire guitar. The neck required a little buffing with a piece of 4-0 steel wool.Bridge and tail piece look like pot metal but they are functional. Tuners are cheap and a little uneven. If strung properly the strings don’t slip. The P-90’s are to my liking. They are not high output pickups but they sound very nice. The height of the pickups is correct. A nice extra is that when both pickups are on, they are in humbucking mode. Another thing that I like is that the guitar is really light and it’s very easy on your back. The frets on this guitar are surprisingly good. There was no fret sprout and there was an obvious effort to polish them. The fret board, which looks like rosewood, was dry and benefited with some oil. I set the guitar up with .011’s.There was one high fret which was easily knocked down with a buzz-off.In all, this is a nice guitar. It’s not an ES-335 or Guild Starfire. It would be great for a beginner but, I would not have a problem using it on a gig. The weight of the guitar has me tempted to play out with it.Summarizing, it’s a decent++ guitar at a very appealing price
