Your cart is empty.Parallel in width and gently tapered in thickness. Overcut is parallel to file edges and upcut is 90 degree to overcut. Useful for putting serrations on knife edges and to obtain a checkered design similar to a gun hand grip. Double cut top and bottom. Both edges are safe. 20 lines per inch. 1/2" wide x 11/64" thick.

Nice checkering file for wood (haven't tried metal) its strait, sharp, and has a lead in chamfer on one edge and a hard stop on the other

I chipped 4 teeth off but I’m using it for knife making on carbon steel. Still works fine. Hopefully I don’t lose more teeth.

This is a really nicely made checkering file. In fact it's so hard, I could barely engrave my name on it with a very powerful electric scribing machine I've had for the last 40 years. This is the first time it's met its match. As a blademaker, I tried it on my hardest tempered knife and softer metals as well, it makes perfect 20LPI checkering on both.

I'm a custom knife maker and have been using this file for almost a year now. It easily adds jimping to the spine of your knife without much effort. I have not seen any degradation to the sharpness of this file or it's over all performance during my time using it. I feel like having the jimpping around where your thumb will land on the spine adds to the usability and general positive feel of your knife.Considering the relatively low cost of this file and low cost in time it takes to add jimpping to your knife; adding this file to your kit is a no brainer.Cheers,Red Beard Ops
