I bought this for adding jumping to knives so on the back of the handle it does a lot of work but on the back of the hardened steel blade it takes its tole on the file. I will buy another.

I bought this 25 LPI file to add checkering to the front strap on my stainless SR1911. It wore out before I was 3/4 through the job. I had to put the file into a vise, break 3" off the end, and dress it with a side grinder just to get to a good cutting surface again. Maybe the stainless steel is just too tough compared to 4140 steel, but I expected I would get through a couple of checkering jobs let alone just one.
