This should not say 12 ga sheet metal brake.look at description, only bends 14 ga at 48inches full length. You only can do 12 ga at 24 inchs

I had wanted a Chicago box and pan brake for many years but, because I'm using it in my home work shop, settled for a Grizzly G0542. Because of it's size & weight, I disassembled it to move it into my basement. Out of the crate it's a beauty with a perfect paint job and precise finish ground fingers. In pieces, it's a mess of saw cut parts, unpainted roughly machined surfaces & flame cut edges. I broke all the sharp saw cut edges on the back of the fingers with a file. I found most hidden contact bearing points & tapped holes were filled with black dust & debris. The soft hinge knuckles and clamping leaf hinges were dirty. The hinge knuckle pins were just roughly machined soft steel. No replaceable bushings in the knuckles so you better keep them well lubed. I removed the 4 oil ports and installed grease zerk fittings so I could used a high pressure grease, instead of just oil. Drilling & tapping was easy in the soft steel used for the bearing surfaces. The counterweights were impressively well made with more precision than some of the more critical components. Realigning the fingers was a 3 hour project. Once assembled & tuned it's a brute that performs routine bends with little effort and the precision you would expect for a $2,000 investment. I'm happy with it today. I down rated it one star because the most critical wear points are not designed to allow replacement of worn components, or hardened to resist wear. Because I have access to equipment in a machine shop I plan to bore the knuckles out and line them with bushings like a Chicago brake has. I also plan to replace the knuckle pins with hardened dowel pins at a cost of $5 each. I would strongly recommend replacing the oil ports with grease zerks to prolong the life of the bearing points & lubricating them with the best high pressure grease you can find.
