I have the old Petzl metal hook tool. it has a very pointed hook that makes pulling the webbing or rope through your V-Thread anchors very easy. This is a well designed product with one exception, the hook is too curved and needs to be "pointer.' I modified mine with a file so that it would work better at retrieving webbing. I found it extremely difficult to snag or even hook into the webbing. Other than that, it's a decent tool. Works much better once you sharpen or modify the hook. could have given it 5 stars, its nice to be able to fold the hook out of the way so it doesn't snag on gear on approach or while climbing.

This is the best, most well thought-out ice screw tool that I have seen or used. It slides inside a screw, making it extremely easy to clear them out. It's small profile also lets you see into your v-thread holes easily while you are trying to pull something through. Its just simple and great. All you need.

The plastic is flexible even in cold temperature, it should not become rigid and break easily.The hook folds and disappears, important to prevent it from snagging on clothing and other gear.Diameter is what it is, it won't work on older narrower screws.I wish the clip was a bit larger (or even better: that it was a larger eye to use with a real biner) and maybe had a swivel to allow unrestricted rotation. Also I wish they skipped the "blade" (to save some $, to reduce risk of accidental cut and because it's not needed).
