Directions could use some improving, but for the mechaniclly inclined, this product is really cool. I have lightweight vents, so i had to drill another hole on the aluminum tube for the pin, so i could adjust lifting pressure. Got it dialed. It starts openning at 75°F.I installed this on a harbor freight green house.Orderd a second opener for the other side. Very pleased.

Purchased these for our greenhouse. They were easy to install and are working well thus far. We've only had them for a month or two.

I used it with a light, 2'x4' polycarbonate panel and wood frame. It simple works. The one assembly issue is the cotter pin which binds a bit.

i built custom a "lean to" greenhouse and needed to attach opener to low side of roof. This unit didn't work for me because the piston extends vertically vs horizontally. the unit needed to be installed at the front (low side of the roof, therefore the piston would stick right in my face when getting to the plants on the shelves. Although it didn't work for my design, im sure it would work for other designs. they all seem to be filled with a wax that contracts when cold and expands when heated up. I ended up buying Pelram vent opener since the piston lays horizontal and is out of the way.

Getting this together was a little bit of a struggle as it warms up and starts expanding. Be sure to put the cylinder in the freezer for a bit before trying to put the together. I’m using it in my custom built greenhouse. The window it’s opening is just a piece of plastic so we don’t even have it connected to the window. Work good. May get another for the other end of the greenhouse

As part of the instructions you need to attach the cylinder into the unit while in a closed position i.e with the cylinder retracted. No where in the instructions does it mention if the temperature during installation is a warm day that the cylinder will not compress and you cannot assemble. I had to wrap a bag of ice around the cylinder to get it to close to complete the assembly. Sounds easy but with horrible directions it took some trial and error before I came up with the idea of the ice. Having that been said it will not close all the way without an ice pack, and yes I have turned the cylinder in both directions. Again the directions are misleading as to clockwise or "anti clockwise" whatever the He** that means. The word they ware struggling with is counter clockwise: Update: No way to bypass in a storm if you don't want the wind to grab it because it's warm and open. No override. Very Light metal/ aluminum.

This thing works like a champ. Took longer to remove the old hardware than to put this in. Opens the roof vent at 70 degrees and get wider as it gets hotter. Great investment considering you don't need batteries or solar panels. It just works off the heat and air pressure in the tube. I've only had it in place for a month but so far it's proven to be indispensable.
