This is easy to use and seems to help keep our septic working well. Using this every two months seems to prevent any smell from the vent pipe.

Green Pig may cost a little more than Ridex, but in the long run it'll save you money. With Green Pig you don't have to have your tank pumped twice a year anymore. Just make sure you use the right amount for your size tank.

This may be long, but bear with me....when I purchased my house, I added a full bath to the basement that ties directly into the septic line just before the tank. A couple of months ago, I noticed the toilet gurgling when a large amount of water was running somewhere else in the house....especially the washing machine! Then 3 weeks ago, I was taking a shower and the water started backing up in the tub and coming out under the sink. 2 weeks ago, I walked into the bathroom and saw the bottom of the tub was covered in grime, then remembered the incident the week before and it hit me like a ton of lead what had happened. So I started doing some research because right now I don't have the cash to have the tank pumped. Buying this type of product was recommended, and this was one of the top contenders. I put 2 in the day I received it, and 1 the next day and the day after. Then to see if there was any change, I washed 5 loads of laundry and took a long hot shower. Nothing!! No back ups and no gurgling toilet!! If anything changes, I'll update my review but as of now, this stuff is a miracle.

*Updating again March 2023. We are noticing that something is better with our system, and we will be using this product. Nothing else has really changed except for using this product. It seems to not only help with solids, but also down the line somehow, as well.This is my original post here: Ok. Easy to use, yes. BUT I ended up using the year supply in about 2 months or so. I wasn't sure if it was working, so I'd add another pod in regularly. My husband checked the septic system about a month or two after the 6th pod was deposited, and said the solids were way less hard/dense than he's seen it before. So I am happy. I think using that many is ok, especially if you are handling an "issue", and the price is comparable to a 1 month treatment, even if you use all 6 pods more closely spaced than 1 every 2 months. I think there's a cumulative effect going on and might purchase these again to stay in a "maintenance" status . Things that make you go hmmmmmmm!
