I purchased these based on the rave reviews. These looked good out of the bag and I think would work well. One of them had many flaws…especially on the handle. I can live with it considering the price….BUT….I wanted to hand wash them before use and the smell of the handles when they got wet was awful….it smelled toxic. A strong chemical smell that must be coming from the finish they used. I am wondering if they are even food safe when they smell this bad…I’m soaking them…which will probably ruin the wood to see if the smell dissipates….Awful. Don’t recommend.

These were great butter spreaders but after a few months they have rusted on the actual stainless steel spreader part.

I like these spreaders, can put them in the dishwasher without resulting in rust like others do.My complaint in that whatever was used to stain the wooden handle has a strong chemical creosote-like smell (like a railroad tie or wooden telephone pole). The smell does diminish as they are washed, but I would rather have had untreated wood handles, without the smell.

I purchased these over 5 YEARS ago. I was hesitant because the handles were made of wood. I put them in the dishwasher after every use. They have only recently started to dry out with tiny slivers on them. This could not have impressed me more.

I use these spreaders on everything that needs to be spread, be it condiments, jellies, cream cheese, chicken salad,etc. They are sturdily built and very comfortable in the hand. The blade is wide, making each use quick and easy. I love the wooden handles but they can not go in the dishwasher or sit in a wet sink for long. My first set lost the wood sealant after about six months of use simply by sitting in a wet sink too many times. Nonetheless, they are still very serviceable. Well worth having as they are a joy to have!!

I lost my spreader I purchased multiple times from Pampered chef but I just couldn't get myself to spend $12 on a spreader and shipping and processing so I looked on AMAZON and I got 4 for a ton. I just wish the handle wasn't wooden and it was black plastic but at this price I can reorder multiple times if the handles get worn. SUPER EXCITED about this purchase.

These spreaders are absolutely fabulous. The blade is stainless steel and the handle is made of wood. The operative word in the previous sentence is "wood." These spreaders are restaurant quality, but knowing the handles are made of wood should have given a good cook the clue that wooden handles must be OILED periodically (just like cutting boards). If they are not oiled with a food grade mineral oil and hand washed, they will dry out, degrade, and shrink away from the rivets. That is not the best kept secret in the world for those of us who know how to take proper care of our cooking items! I will be buying more of these great spreaders, and I highly recommend this product.

Very good quality steel. I used a file and a motorized knife sharpener to put an edge on the back side. Now all are all purpose tools. One of the handles roughened up and lost some of it's color (on one side only) after passing thru the dishwasher . I rubbed it with oil after smoothing the wood with a oscillating sander. Other than the difference in color it works great and passes thru the washer without any additional fading or roughening. The steel used is harder than the usual soft stainless and holds an edge very well. A big cup of coffee with a section of Farmer's Sausage (from Sam's Club) and my handy double edged utility knife/ spreader and a quick B'fast/snack is done and gone............not exactly like the knights of old eating with their knives/daggers but it works for me!

I was looking for a spreader knife to replace my old Tupperware model, which finally broke. Went to Bed Bath and Beyond to find one and, guess what...they don't carry them! I immediately went to Amazon on my phone right in BB&B and found this remarkable bargain. When I received them (4 spreaders for the price of 1!), I found that they are so well made and they work so well. I can't recommend them more highly, and I am a person who uses this kitchen tool every day. It spreads butter, mayonnaise, etc. easily and then can cut the sandwich or whatever without using a separate knife. It has one side that is serrated for cutting and the other side of the spreader is not serrated. You can also use multiple spreaders for entertaining, if you are serving cheese balls, spreads, etc. If you would like to try a utensil like this, or need to replace the old one you already have, THIS is the set you need.
