I’ve been messing with different saddle heights and needed a new saddle. No complaints except this one seemed a little fatter than the originals in both of my martins. I had to sand off a little bit on the flat sides to get the saddle to fit into the slot. Otherwise like I said, no complaints.

[NOTE: "String Saver" is exactly the same as "Black Tusq XL". My "String Saver" saddle is even imprinted with BTXL branding.]GraphTech doesn't appear to offer any actual data to back up its claims about the superiority of their composite so it's impossible to know whether it's actually superior or whether it's just cheap material with expensive marketing. One thing the company *does* heavily emphasize is the consistency of its material and how that consistency ensures better transmission of acoustic vibration when compared to natural materials like bone and ivory. IT'S A SCAM: the manufacturing process of the part (plastic molding) leaves six pronounced "pits" in the bottom of the saddle where the material won't make contact at all. You'll notice that the marketing images show only the top of the part. Looks nice, right? Well once I received it I immediately understood why they only show the top.Having mold pits on a plastic part is unavoidable. However, they could easily be eliminated by making the parts a little extra-deep and then grinding off the bottom of the saddle mold marks in the factory.Additionally, the saddle is slightly flared out at the bottom on both ends, presumably a result of being pressed and "mushrooming" while the composite is still hot. This guarantees a bad fit: either the flares will have to be filed/sanded off to fit into the guitar's saddle slot, or else the tiny flares will be the *only* part of the saddle that properly fits the slot and the rest of the saddle will be loose. Again, these should have been ground off in the factory. It gets worse. Not only is the manufacturing process abysmally flawed, but the quality control is awful. The part I received (in brand new factory retail packaging) had a dent in it which clearly happened prior to being packaged.(I will attach "customer photos" if possible.)GraphTech works hard to make it sound like their composite is some kinda space-age super material. It's not; it's a fairly basic plastic composite. I'm betting it costs them fifty cents or less to produce each of these. They need to spend another fifty cents to produce them *well*.AVOID THIS PART!

Fits an old Sigma DR-1STCE, a cookie cutter dreadnought guitar with a cutaway, after sanding 3-4mm from the side. It probably took an hour to sand the saddle with 80 grit, checking the fit and height. Go slow and take your time to get it right. The shape is a little different than my original Sigma saddle, but Martin made these back in the 90's, so I had faith that I could make it work. Same radius, and it has a comp for the B string. I also added some Tusq pins which also took time to sand, to remove material between the middle of the pin to just below the head. (The top half taper was too wide.) Overall, I like the black saddle and my new black pins. I did this mainly because of the wear and tear on a 19 year old guitar. I haven't noticed any huge improvement in sound like other people have, but it's better than the plastic.

I’m happy with this bridge. I ordered it as a replacement and it fit the saddle perfectly. Just be aware this is a Graphtech String Saver bridge. I don’t know it the material is different from Tusq, but the packaging for the bridge doesn’t say Tusq. Regardless, seems like a nice bridge and the color gives my guitar a unique look.

It's preshaped and exactly the right size. Will buy Graphtec again. Sounds much better than the old plastic saddle.

I really like the look of a black string seat on some guitars, This Martin style improved the intonation and sound on my Samick Orchestra model.

It increased the sustain of my Martin d15 and its easy to sand down to the perfect size. The d15 is a bit of a darker sounding acoustic with the all mahogany body but this metal saddle brightens up the tone just a little bit. Combine with new grover pegs 18:1 gear ratio and a planet waves o-port and now I have a guitar with amazing sustain and volume and all around beautiful tone. This saddle will improve the tone over a plastic saddle
