Product Description

Granite Gear, born in the Boundary Waters and tougher than granite

Granite Gear was born among the placid network of wild waterways etched through the boreal forest that make up the Boundary Waters between Minnesota and Ontario. During a paddling trip through Quetico Provincial Park in 1986 Jeff Knight and Dan Cruikshank realized there was a need for better outdoor gear, planting the kernel that became Granite Gear.

From those humble beginnings—two buddies on a camping trip—Granite Gear has grown into an internationally respected brand that matches purpose with weight, comfort and durability. Their award-winning backpacks and accessories have gained a cultish following and have proven their mettle in the earth’s harshest environments, from Mount Everest to the North and South Poles, and to thousands of miles of everyday wear and tear. Jeff and Dan set out to make the best gear imaginable and they and Granite Gear’s team of product designers and engineers have accomplished it—with an ever expanding line of products ranging from stuff sacks, to ultralight packs, to ultra-durable packs that meet the demands of soldiers. Granite Gear’s gear is truly tougher than granite.

This is great and under rated. There’s people that make artisanal versions of these for double the cost that do the same thing.

When stuffed with my puffy jacket, it provides just the right amount of loft when used as a pillow in my hammock. Then when I get up in the morning, I have my jacket right there where I need it. It makes for a more comfortable pillow than an inflatable, and the stuff sack weighs less than one, too.

This bag/pillow sack is a great thing to have when camping in the outback. It is well built and the materials appear to be of good quality. I do wish the bag was slightly larger. Not in length per se, but in the circumference. If it weren't for the high price, price, I'd say these are a must have for anyone who likes to hike into the outback. But not everyone will afford one of these.

This stuff sack pillow was exactly what I was looking for! Great size, I was able to fit a puffy jacket, a light fleece, a long sleeve base layer, and hat and gloves. Then when using as a pillow I had just the puffy jacket fluffed up in it and it was perfect, very comfortable!

I tried to like the inflatable pillows, but I tend to shape the pillow under my arm (I side sleep), and you can't do that with an inflated pillow. Plus, my face gets hot on them. I think this one is going to work well, It fits my down puffy and my shorts nicely to make a firm, but not too firm pillow. If you turn it inside out before you stuff your sleeping quilt into it, the "fuzzy" material would stay clean. It fits my enlightened equipment 850 down quilt quite well (it's a touch smaller than the manufacturer's bag), so it does double duty. And it's 25 cheaper than a exped pillow and won't spring a leak on me.

I bought this with the intention of having an item that worked for more than one purpose in my backpack (helped to shed pack weight). Great pillow! The furry side stayed warm all night in 30 degree temps. I was also able to shape this pillow just the way I liked to make it a lot more comfortable. I washed it upon return and it washes great. The only downside to the product is that the pillow side does attract lint and dirt- but this is not a deal breaker.

Honestly too expensive for the cheaply made sack you get. It felt very thin and it wasn’t good quality. It will not last.

I've been able to take this out backpacking a few times now and I love it. It's more of a square shape which I think helps packing and makes for more of a pillow. It fits perfectly in my sleeping bag and is very soft. I would definitely recommend to anyone that likes things to multipurpose!
