About this item

  • Standard Mount Phono Cartridge

The Green3 uses a three piece OTL cantilever that has a Grado specific diamond mounted on a brass bushing. Grado’s OTL, or optimized transmission line, technology provides an ideal transfer of signal from the surface of the LP to the generator of the system. This technology rejects unwanted resonances and lowers distortion preserving the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music. This also helps keep noise generated by the motor system in the cartridge to a minimum. Grado’s OTL stylus/cantilever design makes records sound quieter, improves the height, width, and depth of the soundstage, and present more detail than previously obtainable. The Green3 are all hand assembled by our team in Brooklyn, with the recent development of the highly received Lineage Series of cartridges, we were able to have a trickle down of technology and bring a new technique to the Green3. This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal balance, dynamics, and realism, for a most rewarding reproduction of vocals and instruments. Our coil winding techniques, using ultra high purity copper wire which were honed during the development of the Lineage Series, have let the electrical circuits achieve unison between the four coils in each phono cartridge. This allows for a precise balance between channels and accurate stereo imaging. As in all Grado phono cartridges the Green3 are powered by a twin magnet system that optimizes the balance between stereo channels. All internal magnetic circuit parts are held to extremely high tolerances creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado’s patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Green3 to have one of the lowest effective moving mass generating systems while creating an excellent balance throughout the full frequency range.

WHat a piece of junk, check to see if the stylus is square to the head, I got one and the biggest complaint online reviews is the stylus arent square in the cartridge, the one I got was at a 20 degree angle, Grado aint great many pther cartridges blow them away now a day

What can I say, it’s a Grado! They deliver on quality and performance. I’ve had it for some time now. Play through a tube pre-amp with RIAA input. Awesome. The Prestige Green3 is better than most for the money. I’m a graybeard that has used legendary cartridges and needles since the late 70’s. Grado wins for overall performance and investment.

Sweet, natural, even-sounding cartridge. Took about 20 hours to break-in. Out of there box it was dark with rolled off highs. Be patient and remember this is a pretty light cartridge - use a 1.6 tracking force. At 2+ grams the high end is compromised. I would say the Goldring E3 is just as good but with more of a hifi sound. It's brighter than this cartridge. It's nice to have this for a change of pace, as it offers a different tonality. Most cartridges have a juiced-up top end because it sells. Not this. Good detail but not exaggerated.

I changed the cartridge and not just the stylus.......records were not playing right and they are in very good condition. Now the sound quality is so much improved. I'm not crazy about how the little slip of paper explains replacing the stylus.....It's supposed to slide in but I couldn't get it to slide and finally when it did it wasn't in place and I had to fix it myself......the little wires are tricky with the little diagram they give but that apparently went well on the first try. Now my records are playable again .....I never got rid of them and I enjoy the sound.

First thing, if your replacing a Grado Blue etc. This green is a big step up. First it's louder, treble is brighter but not sibilant. Weighs the same so no need to rebalance.
