I have a 7 1/2 year old great grandson, and he loves to fish. We go in the summer, and now he's expressed wanting to learn how to do ice fishing. We live in a state where we have very cold winters and ice fishing is very popular. Of course, his dad and I will be there to show him how. This is a great kit, not only for beginners, but anyone. There is so much gear inside this box, including rod and reel, ice scoop, rod holder, all kinds of lures (86) and a box to hold them in. There is also a nice backpack to carry everything in. This kit is great...and I know our little guy will enjoy it for a long time. A great item, and the price is great too.
