The green pads suck, the rear arm rubbed the little bit of steer tube on my fork where the fork Y’s. At first I thought it was a problem with the fork, but after testing Springfields, and an EVO 2.0 from one of my other bikes, I realized it was the brake and not the fork. The other brakes had plenty of clearance. I ended up grinding the back side of the rear brake arm to gain the clearance that I needed. Otherwise it would have bound up, no matter how much tension you put on the springs. I should’ve sent them back, but instead I modified them. After the clearance issue, the brakes work awesome with odyssey clear pads. Plenty of bite for old school flatland. Other than the clearance issue on a quality S&M fork, they work pretty well.

If you're looking for extra brake clearance on a vintage mountain frame, this is your answer. Provides much better tire clearance than the common Shimano BR-MT61 style u-brakes that were common in the late 80's.I'm running 2.1's that would buzz the load of a turn. Moving to this brake corrected the issue AND they are MUCH easier to adjust/center.

Exactly what I wanted and needed. In reality, I picked this particular item due to the subtle green anodized cap and green pads. (it is the small splash of color on a black bike) Turns out the brake cable cap was also green - nice touch. As far as brakes go, they are never easy to install, regardless. Having said that, these were very straight forward. Very pleased.
