As someone with a VR headset, I wanted to get this as it is usually a pain to setup my headset when I want to open a video in VR. Unfortunately I was having some issues getting the remote to work and to find the daydream app and after a quick google search it turns out that the whole thing has been depreciated. It's incompatible with newer phones, which is why I reckon that I was having issues with the remote just not working. If you have an older phone and use some of the still available apps, then this could be a great deal for entering into VR. It's kind of sad that they didn't advertise this more as what I did get to work seemed great. IT seems like there is a subreddit to actually get the thing to work, but it involves using root access on your phone to force it to work.TL;DR buyer beware, likely incompatible with your device and requires a bunch of effort to get working

This is a neat little product unfortunately it only works with a very very small handful of higher end phones. I have a Google Pixel 3A and even though this product is manufactured by Google itself it doesn't work with the 3a. I previously had this product with a Motorola phone and eight hundred dollar Motorola phone and it worked great and I bought it again with this phone and it doesn't work I didn't return it because I intend to get a phone that it does work with so I can't complain too much.

I bought this expecting so much more. Firstly, it is comfortable works as advertised. My issue with this headset was the fact I was rocking a Pixel 3 xl which barely fit into the headset, allowed more light than I would like ii, and my god did I have issues pairing the controller. I ended up going with a third party headset that came with a controller that is daydream compatible, cost less and came with headphones attached. I bought this at the 49.99 sale price and I still think its just barely worth it, and this is coming from someone who is trying to live completely submerged in the Google ecosystem. The benefits of the headset are size as its small and does look aesthetically pleasing, not unlike may other headsets. The video clarity was definitely less than superb, there are no focal adjustments whatsoever, it is big enough to fit your face if you have glasses. I wear glasses. Really my biggest grip is getting the controller to pair and stay paired, had no issues with other daydream compatible controllers.

Absolutely love the touch and go aspect of this. I pair mine with an LG V30 and a chromecast. Makes for a fun party trick to share what the user is seeing. The remote is intuitive even for older family members. The strap on this version is just right once you get used to placing it higher than is expected, I understand that as this confuses people they changed it. I hope this is the reason 4k capable phones come out in the future as 2k resolution has some pixelation but if the content pulls you in it fades away. For the particular there is chroma away from the center of the lenses from the simple fresnel lenses but this also fades if you become submerged. Currently I think there are performance limits on resolution for 360 video as 180 video looks much better and as of this writing there is a lot of great material to keep my interest. I understand that a year ago the ecosystem would have been sparse and it was easy to lose interest. I have been a gamer ever since watching my parents play donkeykong country and little has got my heart racing like zombies attacking me in stereoscopic 3D. I am excited for the experience possibilities with VR and I cant wait to see what is next for mobile VR.

I admit, I wasn't expecting brilliance when I snapped my Pixel XL into the Daydream View but wow -- was I surprised! I had an original Oculus Rift Developer kit but found the "screen door" effect and the lack of a handheld controller to be deal-breakers.. The Daydream view + Pixel XL resolves these concerns and then some! No, you won't see the visual fidelity of a Vive + nVidia 1080GTX, but as an inexpensive VR unit it's unmatched. I'm already looking at deploying a few of these for industrial pump maintenance training purposes, and I believe they'll work beautifully: Daydream is about to become a fully supported platform in the Unity3D development environment and we absolutely cannot wait!

Beware that what you get on here is considered an older version vs the one you get directly from the Google store. If I had known this I would have purchased from them for the same price at the time. Fairly annoyed by this. After reading the reviews. I feel like there's a few things that should help avoid a lot of issues. If you can purchase new, this will ease any possibility of missing items. It does come with instructions, a small booklet that inside the side of the headset insert.I got this because I wanted to know if I liked vr enough to purchase a full on headset. If I use this for the next few months, I plan too.Keep reminding myself that this is a phone, not a dedicated vr headset. That said, it's fun to play with. First use I did actually just watch a bunch of vr movie trailers, the IT one is quite amusing. The google expeditions are quite interesting. The headset itself is comfortable. My biggest issue is, I guess my head size is weird. It won't stay tight enough? I usually end up laying down, so the headset can sit better in place. It does have some blur, and not quite as clear as I'd like. Again, this is just a phone thing. At first I thought it was a phone protector screen, and ripped that off. Cleaned my screen, and it's just the compability of a phone vr.Going into space and seeing the nebula and auroras was an experience. Family members have been giving it a go and seem to enjoy it.That said, if you do get a lot of use out of this, you might want to invest into an actual vr system. For the price you get what you'd expect, it's a still a phone. It does drain your battery like crazy. And some apps just won't work because it requires an actual headset with a mic.

This thing is pretty cool, but really it's VR that's so cool. The Daydream viewer is adjustable and fits well, but I have the Pixel 2XL which, when in place, appears to be much too large for the viewer. However, it doesn't seem to affect any of the VR experiences. It's soft & comfortable, and the overall experience is cool, but I think I would get the same effect with the cardboard version (and save a lot of money). I did get 5 free VR 'games' with the Daydream viewer, so that helped a bit with the priciness.
