This device is for measuring vibration frequency, velocity and displacement, with +/- 5% accuracy, on any kind of moving mechanism such as motors, bearings, compressors, pumps, etc.It has a large, easy to read backlit display, and comes with a booklet that describes the functions and how to select/use them.It's just a handheld unit with no interface to a PC or tablet, but at the price that's fine, one can note the readings in a logbook or an "Excel" spreadsheet for comparisons or graphing, in order to diagnose problems, maintain or improve things such as a compressor that vibrates too much, become aware of worn parts that need replacement, etc.Price/performance is very good, recommended if you need a portable vibrometer that's easy to use and read.

Best used in an environment where you are routinely checking the same equipment and are able to keep log books this meter allows you to predict when components are starting to show wear before failure occurs. There are vibration units available that incorporate a tablet that interprets the data into easy to read charts and diagrams but they are fairly expensive. This meter is affordable but only displays raw data. It is up to the user to record data and use that to monitor changes and also compare to other resources.

If you can habitually and with frequency, test a piece of equipment, like a bearing, and take a reading, this meter will let you predict problems on bearings so you can replace them before they fail critically. I also used it on my boat to compare on engine to another for idle smoothness. Works great but you need to keep a record of each test if you want to really benefit from a tool like this to see degradation and vibration increases over time.
