What is UHMWPE?
UHMWPE, Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, is known as a high-tech material widely used in climbing, sailing, and hiking for its unbeatable properties. UHMWPE is branded as Dyneema, Spectra, and other trade names by different companies. They share almost the same characteristics.
- Lightweight. It's at present the best way to reduce weight when going outdoors.
- Yield high strength. 15 times stronger than steel on the same weight basis.
- Very low coefficient of friction and is self-lubricating.
- High abrasion resistance. You can practically feel that when you try to cut off UHMWPE ropes or webbing.
- Float on the water. UHMWPE has a density lower than water, which makes it widely used in water applications.
- Zero water absorption. Absorbs almost no water. Best materials for applications in wet or icy environments.

I climb cell towers and commonly need to create anchor points from varying tower structures, and this sling has been holding up! Throw a figure 8 on one end and you’re set. Obviously there’s always a danger with sharp edges in this business but as long as you’re aware of that you’ll find these to be perfect for the job. And a 3 pack for $23 is awesome, I only use one and plan on replacing mine whenever I see any signs of damage

I have no evidence for the origin of this product, nor do I know if it conforms with normal US safety standards. That said, it appears to be well made of strong materials. Webbing is uniformly robust for its size (double thickness), and bar tack stitching appears to be well done.While I may not completely trust this to save my life at a height as a primary anchor, I'd be comfortable using it to carry gear, hang my hammock, or serve as part of a backup anchor system. I'm actually going to stow it in my hiking day pack for use in emergencies.
