This brass sensor adapter is ideal for oil pressure and fuel pressure sensors that will not thread into your stock port. If you are using this brass sensor adapter for a temperature sensor, a test port sender extender must be purchased since most temperature sensors will not fit through the borehole. It is recommended to use Teflon tape on each thread to prevent any leaks for a secure connection.

I installed electric gauges in my '54 Chevy 3100 with a 235 I6, which has a funky 5/8-11 sending unit thread (not NPT like typical) and wouldn't work with any of the adapters I had on hand. I installed this fitting with some thread sealer and the supplied o-ring and it fits and seals to the block perfectly, and the new sending unit fit the female threads, as well.

My 1959 Metropolitan was not built with a temperature gauge, even though these had a reputation for occasional overheating. The head was tapped for a 5/8-18 national straight pipe thread, not the tapered NTP you see more commonly. It is not an adapter you can pick up at an auto parts store. I added a gauge and ordered an adapter from a well known specialty British car parts company (the Metro was sold by Nash but built by Austin in England). That made in England adapter was machined poorly inside and would not seal even with Teflon tape and industrial grade pipe thread sealant. After R&R three times I found the internal bad machining and gave up. This adapter from GlowShift is very nicely and properly machined and sealed up properly without additional sealers or excessive force. I am pleased and only wish I had known this was what I needed from the beginning.

This is a 1/8 npt (most small fuel pressure gauges’ thread size) to 5/8-18 (3/8 steel fuel line) thread size. It is the correct bushing to run a gauge off of a brass 3/8 fuel line tee. It isn’t flared (if it was 5/8 inverted flare it would be perfect) but it’s the closest fitting I’ve found that will make my homemade fuel hardline setup work.
