Glass Mosaic Tile Step-by-Step Installation
Preparation:
Ensure that the surface you're tiling is clean, dry, and smooth. If you're tiling over an existing surface, make sure it's well-adhered and free from loose debris.
If tiling a wet area like a bathroom or kitchen backsplash, consider using a waterproof backer board or membrane to prevent water damage.
Installation Steps:
1. Measure Wall Dimensions: Measure and mark the centerline of the area to be tiled. This will help you ensure that your tiles are evenly distributed.
2. Layout Tiles to Fit: If needed, cut tiles to fit along the edges using a tile cutter or tile nipper. Wear safety glasses when cutting tiles.
3. Application of Adhesive: Mix the thin-set mortar according to the manufacturer's instructions. It should have a peanut butter-like consistency.
Use a notched trowel to spread a layer of mortar on a small section of the surface. Work in small sections to prevent the mortar from drying out before you can apply the tiles. Hold the trowel at a 45-degree angle and comb the mortar to create ridges. This helps the tiles adhere properly.
4. Setting Tiles: Press the glass mosaic tiles into the mortar, following your layout and using tile spacers to maintain even gaps between the tiles. Press gently but firmly to ensure good adhesion. Allow the tiles to set in the mortar for the time specified by the manufacturer (usually 24 hours).
5. Grouting: Mix the grout according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use a grout float to press the grout into the gaps between the tiles. Hold the float at a 45-degree angle and work diagonally across the tiles to avoid pulling out the grout.
6. Clean The Wall: Wait for the grout to set for a short period (about 15-30 minutes), then use a damp sponge to wipe away the excess grout from the tile surface. Rinse the sponge frequently and avoid using too much water, as it can weaken the grout. After the grout has dried for about 24 hours, use a clean, dry cloth to buff any remaining grout haze from the tiles.

The only reason I gave these 4 stars is bc I could have sworn these were peel n stick but no these need grout. They are really heavy but omg so pretty even in just the box. Bc I don't know how to do grout, I'm instead using these as more like decor bc I used these inside of a framed pic to frame some black n white photos or my kids n they turned out really pretty

The product images represent the actual tile quite well, it looks great in person. That being said, obviously judge for yourself if these are the style for you- just feel confident that the pictures are a good representation. I inspected all the tile sheets carefully, and find them to be consistent and without flaws. The packaging is ideal- sheets of foam between every layer as well as a thick foam surround, so pretty minimal risk of inconvenient shipping damage. The tile thickness is a perfect standard match for the wall tile with which I will be using these as accents. Shipping took an abnormally long time for me, not at all sure if this is typical or a fluke, just seems worth mentioning. I don't get to these projects nearly as quickly as I would like anyway, so it was not an actual issue for me.

This is a box of 5 x 1 sqft tile for backsplash. I got the teal blue tiles for an eventual kitchen remodel and holy mackerel they're gorgeous! They glisten in the light and the blue/silver/white combo is lovely. The tiles are glass; the tops of each tile are smooth and untextured but the bottoms have some decoration/texture to them. The stripey ones actually seem to be backed with some sort of metallic fabric (once the grout is in place the fabric will be safe from any staining and such).None of the tiles were broken when it arrived, and all tiles were firmly attached to the back netting. One tile on one of the sheets had a small scratch on it but honestly not a huge deal. Thank you! They are expensive but they're beautiful and I'll be buying more packs to finish off kitchen backsplash once we remodel!
