I purchased one on these several years ago and couldn't want to go back to the typical nozzle. It's easy to use and I love how I don't have to keep holding a trigger. My hands cramp easily so this is perfect for long usage. The manual "trigger" helps keep a constant flow at the speed you want it and the adjustment for the spray it easy to move as well. My previous one lasted me over 2 years. I'd recommend avoid slamming it on cementThe rubber tip is what eventually wore out on my previous one. The only down side is the price but seeing how long it lasted and the ease of use, it's pretty worth it.

This is a GILMOUR product, built in China. Large, heavy, feels like it would withstand heavy use. Adjustment of spray pattern is very smooth, although the finest setting wouldn't be considered a mist. Easily delivers the full volume of water, unlike most nozzles now that have a restricted flow. Works adequately with household pressure, but feels like it would work even more effectively with a much higher pressure and flow rate. Unsure how well the volume adjustment handle will last under heavy use.

This item came in the mail wrapped well and in good time. It is a very hefty Nozzel which demands a high-pressure pump in order to throw any distance. I bought it for my rural fire prevention system and it works fine hooked to a Honda pump but did not work well hooked to the well pump because of lack of pressure. My well is 50psi and my honda pump is 80psi plus. VERY NICE UNIT.

a quality hose end for more flow and control than typically available in the hardware store. includes hand flow shut off valve as well as twist to shut off. spray pattern is a big surprise and is very useful for washing and gardening - actually more useful for gardening than expected because of the soft high flow spray pattern that can be achieved. overall a pleasant surprise but at a price premium

This is my all-time favorite hose-end sprayer/nozzle. Because there are no small sprayer holes to plug up, I can use it on irrigation water that is river water carried to us by way of a canal. We get all sorts of debris in this water, but the Fireman's nozzle doesn't plug. The flow can be adjusted using the on/off handle. It's convenient to be able to quickly have full flow or no flow due to the easy operation of this handle. It will hold the same flow until the handle is moved, so I can set it up to soak a tree and leave it.The type of water flow is adjusted by turning the large rubber end of the nozzle. It can be adjusted for a full range of flow from mist to jet to flood with variations of each in between. The nozzle is fairly heavy compared to many hose end sprayers. I use one to fill the stock tank for animals and can leave it running and changes in pressure won't cause it to flip out of the tank. Of course, I can also set it to a slower flow and a less intense spray to help it stay in. Our drinking water is from a well and there is a fair amount of sand from time to time. This nozzle can handle the particulates without plugging.I'm starting on the fourth year of using the first one I bought. It has held up well despite being left out in the sun, heat and freezing weather. This is a well-designed and very functional nozzle. I would not hesitate to buy another if something happens to the ones I have.

As someone else mentioned, I also saw this in Wired Magazine. I was thinking of gifts to get my dad and I thought this would've been a nice gift. My dad opened this present and his eyes lit up. Seriously I never saw my dad quite excited for a while. He always wanted a Fireman's style hose nozzle.Anyway the next day we decided to try it out. My dad hooked it up to his Craftsman hose and let it rip. Honestly I was quite surprised how much water this thing let through. At the time we were having some water pressure issues but even then, the stream was quite strong. I can imagine once we get our water pressure fixed, this thing will be amazing. The red top portion adjusts the water output from a stream to a light spray. Very versatile if you're washing a car or watering plants. It's quite heavy and seems to be well made. If anyone wants a serious nozzle, this is the one to get but do check you water pressure first or else you won't get the full effect. Also from what I understand, it works best on 5/8" and 3/4" hoses. My dad's Craftsman hose is a 5/8" I believe. 1/2" hoses don't work so well according to other reviews.

I won this as a door prize and laughed. I figured it would be just something else to sell at the next garage sale, but I thought I'd try it first. I was impressed. It does put out a lot of water (we have 80# pressure) and the large end controls the stream easily. I'm able to adjust the stream from concentrated full force to a fine mist and since it puts out so much water, it cut the time I need to water the flowers in the morning in half. I'm so impressed, I'm buying another for the front yard. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the on/off seemed backwards to me. You pull back to start the flow and push forward to stop. Also, it is heavy, but at least I don't have to worry about it falling apart like the plastic ones.Update--Dec 27,2009 - I've now used 2 of these all summer and fall and am still sold. They're great. I was able to reverse the on/off lever by removing the screws and switching the handle to the reverse side of the nozzle as stated in some of the comments and soon found out why it's the way it is. When the nozzle is on the ground, it's very tempting to pick it up using the on/off lever. When the forward position is the OFF position, it's not a problem. When it's reversed and you pick up the nozzle, the handle moves forward (to ON) because of the weight of the hose and you end up getting soaked. It's happened a couple of times to me, so I switched it back to the way it came. I guess they DID know what they were doing.
