I only needed 2 switches but this 20 pack was one of the cheaper ones I could find. I'm glad I tested the switches before soldering them on my PCB because the second one I tried was not working, it was constantly shorting the switch regardless of the orientation I had it in. Luckily I had 18 extra switches to pick from. I know my situation would not constitute a large sample by any means, but I had a 1 out of 3 failure rate.As for functionality, holding the switch vertically, legs pointing up, is open position and vertically with legs pointing down is closed position. There is some hysteresis when in horizontal position, but that angle seemed to vary a little between the two working switches I used, but you definitely need to tilt it past horizontal position to either open or close it. By eyeballing it, it's somewhere between 15-30 degrees past horizontal.Overall, these worked great for simple applications that don't need a full fledged accelerometer. The 1 out of 3 failure is why I took off 1 star.

The tilt switches work as advertised, I am putting them on a autonomous robot lawn mower I am building they will serve as safety switches in case the lawn mower tilts over and exposes the blades and shut the lawn mower off.

They worked fine for my project. They help me to be alerted if certain items are disturbed that shouldn't be by others.Arduino based fun as well as functional. I am learning new applications using the Arduino IDE, with Uno and Nano devices. The tilt sensitivity may not be acceptable for some applications, albeit they work perfect for my requirements. Thanks !

I used this to detect tilt in a hand-held prop. It works, but 1) it makes a faint but noticeable rattling/vibrating noise when it slides, as if there's a spring inside and it's allowed to shake. I've used other tilt sensors with a ball inside that made a single faint click when they engage. 2) the contacts are very "bouncy" and if you're sensing tilt for anything other than lighting an LED, you will need to debounce the input. I settled on 150ms of continuous contact. Something lower will likely work, but if it matters, you need to measure it.The angle at which it engages varies a bit, but for my purposes that's fine, and they all vary some.I miss the old mercury tilt sensors - they were dead silent, very predictable and they didn't register much of any bounce. I know why they went out of style, but I wish I knew of a similar, liquid based equivalent that was long lasting.

Small, easy to hide and work well. Small size allows to for ball to contact if not set steep enough in the off position, so expect to have to find it's"happy spot". Worked great for trunk lights, grounding the light, attached to the hinge.

I decided to expand my Home Automation project to include knowing when the toilets are flushed. I know, sounds weird, but read on. So the benefits of using tilt switches with my Home Automation Open/Close sensor (mounted on the back of the toilet) is 3 fold. (1) My system counts the number of flushes and each flush, which is equal to 1.5 gallons of water. You would be surprised as how much water goes down the drain. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY... (2) My Home Automation system turns off the city water (at the city water meter) every night at 11:00PM till 6AM. If you have to use the toilet at night there is only one flush. So, now when the toilet is flushed between 11PM and 6AM, it turns on the city water for 2 minutes to refill the tank. AND... lastly (3) I installed one of my Home Automation's open/close sensor in my mailbox, with one of these tilt switches. My Home Automation system sends me a text message when the mail PERSON has delivered mail. I am very happy with these tilt sensors.

I purchased these switches to use in a couple of home projects for the car and around the house. The switches were delivered on time and well packaged, so far both applications I purchased for have worked well. One is triggering some lights when the lift of my car is up, the other is performing the same type of function in my travel trailer. So far all the switches have worked, and none malfunctioning.

I'm using one attached to a vertical opening driveway gate to connect 3.7 volt lithium batteries to an LED light only when the gate is open. The load might be 2 amps. The circuit closes reliably at the same spot in the arc of the gate. The first one I used worked immediately just as expected. The leads are a thicker, stiff metal and you can just bend them to suit your situation. Nice product to work with.
