I actually had a friend install my mailbox using the anchor post since my husband is 85 and not in the best of health. He had no problem installing the post and the mailbox and it has remained standing and sturdy.

It was difficult putting the spike in the post; I used a rubber mallet but in hindsight an engineer’s hammer would have been a better tool—instruction for this would’ve been helpful.

I was rather nervous to use this based upon past reviews and watching various YouTube videos. But learned that they recommend not using cement just in case a car hits the post. This is as very simple. You hammer the metal into a partially preholed post and the hammer that into ground. You Should use a flat piece of wood between post and hammer so you don’t split or make post uneven. Very simple. A bit of muscle needed to hammer into ground. The post is 2 feet above ground after installed. Perfect for the mailbox! And no cutting needed.

Mmm compra un pedazo de madera y el herrero te puede hacer la otra parte. Estaría lista mas rápido y mucho mas barato!

My mailbox got hit by a car and I had to get a new post and “slip over” plastic mailbox. The previous mailbox was cemented into the ground and I couldn’t find a spot reasonably close enough to the driveway and the road to dig a new real post hole because the cement was spread so wide (previous homeowner).I gave this a try. 3 months later, the mailbox is still standing strong! When you get the product you will not feel very confident. It seems flimsy and cheap. For the first couple weeks after I installed the new post/mailbox I would wake up in the morning and wonder if it was still standing. But now I’ve forgotten all about those worries.I dug a small 3 inch deep hole so that a small portion of the post is in the ground too - I think that was beneficial. It still fit the mailbox’s plastic post cover nicely and had I no issues drilling into it. Be careful when driving in the stake because mine slightly bent which made my mailbox face left just the sliiiiightest bit. (I couldn’t care less.)If you don’t have the tools or skills to dig a real post hole and install a real post, this is a cheap and (so far) effective way to get your mail!

This kit was very easy to install. I did it by myself in less than 20 minutes. My mailbox was already mounted on a plastic post so that saved me some time. I did borrow a sledge hammer from my Dad, but you could probably do it with a regular hammer or definitely with a mini sledge. The negative reviews seem to mostly be from people who misunderstood what they were buying. This is made to go under a plastic post that is holding a mailbox. It is NOT intended to be the primary support for a mailbox, it is not tall enough. The complaints about the hole in the 4x4 are also wrong. It is, intentionally, slightly smaller than the metal post. This is so that the post will be tight when you pound it on.Will be ordering another one to mount my sister's mailbox.

I'd VERY MUCH recommend this item to anyone looking for an easy way to install a mailbox post!!I needed to install a new mailbox, and wanted an easy way to get a post into the ground. I don't know anything about mail boxes, installing them or all that jazz but a lot of people and websites had mentioned they had to pour concrete to erect their post securely, and I was not thrilled at the thought of that. So, when I was buying my Mailbox on Amazon, it showed this post kit as an option. I'm SO glad I bought it.I don't have much upper body strength, and I'm only 5ft 2in tall, with little home maintenance experience I was hoping this would be an easier way to install a mail post, and it did not disappoint! It was SUPER easy to install. All I had to do was hammer (it said use a sledgehammer, but I don't own one) the black post into the ground, which took about 2 minutes. Then the wooden post already has a hole in it, and you just hammer that over the black metal post. The whole installation took at most, 15 minutes! Once it was in the ground it was SUPER sturdy, and that's even in our sandy Florida soil! The ONLY reason I am not giving this item 5 stars was my wooden post must have been derived from a piece of wood that had a natural knot that when cut, left a divet in the wood It made it a bit more difficult to secure the mailbox to all sides of this post (my mailbox slips over this post fully), because that area was recessed, so the screws just barely were long enough to reach.

This post works great and is so easy to install. I highly recommend you spend the money so your mailbox is installed correctly. I have driven by many mailboxes with similar style and they all seem to be leaning and I wonder if they took a short cut. I have a natural spring at the end of my drive so it is always wet and difficult to get any post requiring digging to stand straight. Hint: after metal stake is installed and you hammer the 4x4 on it-bang the 4x4 into ground 2-4 inches.
