It does seem to work but the housing had pulled apart (not broken -- just pulled apart) before opening. I snapped it back together plugged it in and the test switch and indicator light worked but I had to use some force plugging in the first appliance I tried (a window fan) -- the price was good and delivery was prompt -- I'm not sure if I'd buy another one.

Works very well once you can get something plugged into it, it's not as much tight as the prongs don't seat properly without a lot of wiggling.

This is a very important product - I'm so happy I got it. See, when working with electric appliances, tools in particular, you can't take the chance to be electrocuted or to destroy your appliance in case of a power drop like the one happening everywhere all the time, especially here in Miami where I live, because of thunderstorms. So to get myself on the safe side, I ordered this product and it comes with a RESET and TEST buttons: first you plug it into the 110 volts (I think it's good up to ~140 volts) power grid (make sure you're not in one of those countries where they use 220v.Then you test it - Safety is #1. The test is very simple - click once on the Reset button, will bring the product into a working state, which enable the flow of electricity, but I now had to make sure in case of electric shock it will protect me - one click on the TEST button simulate such a shock, which cuts off immediately the power flow from the wall outlet to the electric device, turning off the indicator light on the receptacle. That ensure my safety in case of a shock. Now to start using it I press the RESET button again and connect my appliance to the GFCI receptacle. The idea of having this safety device is based on a similar unit I have already installed on the plug of my pressure cleaner, however, when I drill holes in the wall with my power drill, I don't want to think what might happen if I hit a power chord in the wall, that is why I rely on this product to keep me safe.

This review is for OAONAN GFCI Outlet Adapter Portable RCD Leakage Protector Receptacle 15Amp with One Outlet and Male Plug in Circuit Breaker to Protect Electric Safety (Black). The unit appears exactly as pictured and it's as simple to install as plugging it in.It requires a 3-prong grounded outlet. It is rated at 15A @ 120V so it will work with most common items such as tools and vacuums (that are rated less then 15A). I could not find a UL stamp on it but is does have the ETL stamp and this is generally equivalent.I prefer not to rely on the internal test circuitry of each item alone. When dealing this GFCI tests I prefer to use a using an external tester from a brand I trust such as the Klein Tools RT210 or GB GFI-3501, rather then just the internal test. The unit did trip with both the internal test and an external GFCI tester.I confirmed the unit will keep same with the status after a power interruption. So if it was on before the power interruption it will remain on when power is restored. If it was tripped (“off”) before the power interruption it will remain tripped when power is restored.I did NOT have the plug blocking issues that others mentioned in their reviews. Please see the pictures I posted. I tried several plugs styles and power bricks and all could be fully plugged in with this item plugged into the other receptacle.Note: This item is also available in White color as ASIN: B06XTQ86W3The bottom line is I am very happy with this item. I would buy it again and I would recommend it to a friend.
