I've been using this guitar support for a few years now, and I generally like its adjustability, but if you hold your guitar with the body angled toward your chest, the support pad on your knee just doesn't have enough 'stick', and the guitar inevitably starts sliding down your leg. This to me makes it an average guitar support instead of a great one, since it really doesn't support the guitar after all. Also, the suction cups tend to slide off the guitar body as well. I purchased the clear vinyl strips to attach to the guitar so it doesn't leave suction cup marks (it was doing that), and to hopefully keep the suction cups sticking better, but it really didn't help that much. To keep the guitar from sliding off my leg, I attached a bungee cord under my seat and bring it forward and up between my legs and hook it onto the Ergoplay. That helps a lot with the sliding, but really it should be designed with a non-slip padding. If you are someone who holds the guitar body more vertically, this support probably would work better for you.

I was using the Woodside support with the longer extension piece for great height, but this can raise the guitar much higher and has much greater range of positions. It's also very sturdy.

I received my Troster today and quickly found that playing with it improved my form and technique immediately. Not as much pinching at the wrist, less twisting around the guitar, straighter back. Everything feels more open.Unfortunately, mine came with only 3 suction cups and instead of the 4 that appear in unboxing videos. The part of the packaging that holds the suction cups has a fourth section, but the hole is not punched through. See attached image. I tore the others getting the suction cups out before I realized I was missing one, so I don't expect I can return it.Without the fourth, it does feel a little less stable than I expect it would if the item was completely attached. I have contacted the seller and will update my review when I hear back.Amazon suggests discussing value for money, suction power, and comfort. All are a bit lacking as long as one of the suction cups are missing.UPDATE:The seller Music Gifts N More reached out quickly and sent me a replacement suction cup. They were great! I've updated my rating to 5 star across the board, as the complete item is very stable, has great suction power, is very comfortable, and and is totally worth the money.

I got this for a banjola (5-string mandola). Being used to full-bodied guitars I was uncomfortable with how the teardrop shape of the banjola--I couldn't rest it on my leg. This has solved the problem (though it's made for a wider instrument (the guitar), and this is not a perfect solution--only 2 of the 4 suction cups fit on the instrument). I can't speak to what it's like used for its intended purpose (to replace a footrest for classical guitar), but the suction is rather good just using 2 of the 4 cups, so I'm betting that using all 4 would make it solid.

This is the best method I've found for supporting a guitar, if you don't want to use a foot stool. Please believe me when I say I have tried every method available, including ancient methods, and I've even invented some of my own. The difficulty is finding an ergonomic position that is good for the body, stable and best for ease of playing. This device is capable of simultaneously providing all of these to the highest degree. It's hard to compete with a footstool in terms of stability and functionality, but I think this actually surpasses a footstool for me overall. The problem with a footstool is that you are almost certainly in for back/hip/neck problems after years of playing for hours daily. Youngsters take note - your body will not always be young and resilient.I want to be clear that this device may not be suitable for everyone, depending on how one prefers to hold the guitar. However, it really can provide the most ergonomic position (in my opinion) if you are willing to change existing habits. One problem I have with suction cups, in general, is that they can detach while playing. This usually does not happen if proper form is used, but no one is perfect and also if you put the guitar in a stand, the device may fall off after a while, which is annoying. I ended up running a strap around the body of the guitar which prevents this problem. I had to make it special to fit through the slots in the support, but it can be done if you have this problem, and this also makes the device even more stable.

I would give this product a 5 star rating but there are a few things I do not like about this particular model.First off there are 2 models that I know off, and I own them both. This one the TROSTER & the TAPPERT.The Differences that I can see is that the TAPPERT has only 1 swivel on the top or front of the unit and a fixed base at the rear or back, which in my case, works better. It also has a longer base which allows for a more adjustable placement on my leg. I have many guitars and I find that the TROSTER with the double swivel is too high in the rear unlike the fixed rear of the TAPPERT model and I like the longer base of the TAPPERT model. There is also the price difference the TROSTER being 30% more expensive. This is just my humble opinion!
