I have a few other Gerber multitools and this is one of my favorites. I like the black finish and clip. The tools are easy to use and functional and very sturdy.

The original Gerber suspension I bought at Walmart for $29 and carried for years in the Army was a much more useful tool than all the $100+ Leathermans many of my fellow soldiers carried. Depending on your MOS and unit, “Gerber” or “Leatherman” were often used in place of multitool, just like in parts of Texas if you order a “coke” they interpret that to mean soda in general and respond with “what kind of coke do you want?” Dr. Pepper. In the Army Leathermans are more common so when someone asked to borrow my “Leatherman” I’d hand them my Gerber suspension and they’d fumble with it, confused by the little nubs that make one handed operation a breeze, and then more confused about the locking mechanism, although both seem pretty intuitive to me. I’ve always found this tool to reign supreme since it’s truly easy to operate with one hand, includes a high quality belt case, and has all the necessities. Although a little stiff at first, with some extra lubricant and break-in, opening and closing the knife, saw, and even pliers, were easy with one hand only. Being spring loaded is a seriously important bit too, and after years of use they still work well.Since the same product page has the original suspension and the new Suspension NXT, I do want to mention the NXT is pretty mediocre. You get a couple more tools you don’t need, but completely lose the ability to operate with one hand. Instead of the nice little nubs for your thumb to flick open the outermost tools on the Suspension, the NXT goes back to basics so you need to use your fingernail(s) to pull out any of the tools. The sliders to unlock tools on the NXT are more flush and the springs seem stiffer, aka much harder to use. No case is included, but if you want to actually carry it and are willing to sacrifice a pocket, you can use the attached pocket clip. Hooray. One of the few examples I’ve seen where the new version of a product gets worse in nearly every way.

I use this every single day. It is light and has so many options for tools. The design is sleek yet so useful. Out of the box everything is sharp and ready to use. Over the 6 months I did have to sharpen the knife but other than that it’s awesome. Super durable from drops and the pocket clip is fantastic.

I work at a summer camp and bring a number of these Gerber Multitools to give away as prizes for a program I conduct. It's typically one of the first items selected by campers. We offer canoe trips for children into the wilderness. They have to have the proper items to be able to do this type of canoe skills. This Gerber Tool is sturdy, offers a variety of things need for the wilderness and is priced reasonably. I used to offer this same tool that begins with an "L" but the cost factor became too much. In researching, I came across this Gerber Tool and so far have been very happy with it, and so are the campers. Compact, easily carried or packed, and has endured abuse by campers. I'd say its a winner.

Impressed with the Gerber Gear Suspension-NXT 15-in-1 EDC Multi-tool! I've had my fair share of multi-tools, but this one stands out from the rest. The build quality is exceptional, with a rugged, ergonomic design that feels solid in the hand. The stainless steel construction is durable and resistant to corrosion, ensuring that this tool will withstand the rigors of regular use. The 15 functions are thoughtfully designed and well-implemented, including pliers, wire cutters, scissors, knife, saw, and more. The pocket knife is particularly useful, with a sharp, sturdy blade that's perfect for everyday tasks. The tool's suspension system allows for smooth deployment of each function, making it a joy to use.

There's not a lot of bells and whistles on the Gerber Suspension-NXT and that's a good thing. I feel like a lot of multi-tools have strayed too far from their "general purpose" original design. Now you can get multi-tools with almost every accessory imaginable on it. They'll probably start making them with power tools installed, if they haven't already. And as such the price goes up, especially when a company decides to make a boutique multi-tool with 30+ accessories including hand forged knives, unobtainium springs, hydraulic rescue tools, lensatic compass, google translator, etc. None of this is what a multi-tool was designed to be used for. If you need a specialty tool, go use that tool. Don't try to cram it into a multi-tool that wasn't designed for such things. The Gerber Suspension has the bare-bones tools you may find yourself needing on the fly and nothing more. Pliers, Phillips and flat head screwdriver, a partially serrated knife, small pry bar/nail remover w/ measurements on the one side and a filing surface on the other, scissors, bottle opener (and let's be honest here, for a majority of people this will be the most used tool) and a couple other tools built into each foldable arm (of which there are 7 total... 4 on one side, 3 on the other). It has a belt/pocket clip and is the right size for EDC in your pocket. If you need a more permanent carry solution, you can find kydex holsters from multiple sources.A multi-tool has always been a designed for quick fixes of the multitude of daily items that get stuck/come loose/too tiny for fingers/need to be opened/etc **AND/OR** "let me tweak something real quick until I can come back with a proper tool". The Geber Suspension fits this role perfectly. If you find yourself wanting to buy a 200 dollar multi-tool, pause and ask yourself why. If the answer is to fix something specific, then you need a specific tool. If the answer is, as it should be, to use it for general handy work and small fixes on the go, then why spend that much money? Some problems specific to this multi-tool (or at least the one I got). The first one I noticed is that the spring in the pliers feels gritty and a bit weak. It still bounces the pliers open, which is great and you need pliers to close, not spring open, but it felt lackluster. Two, when closed there's some wiggle in the two halves. Like, when it's closed and you hold one side and then other, you can wiggle them slightly up and down. This goes away the moment it's opened. While these two issues are very minor, it doesn't give me unshakable confidence in it's durability over time. It's still built rock-solid but maybe some of the tiny screws aren't tight enough (hey, something you'd need a multi-tool to fix!). But for 40 bucks, I'll just buy a new one if this falls apart eventually, which doesn't feel like any time soon. The arms are also super tight at first but a little oil and opening and closing them will fix that. Still better than being too loose.Don't buy bougie multi-tools. Get this one instead.

The quality of the Gerber is second to none with all stainless steel constructtion, razor sharp knifes and tough Phillips & flat-head screwdrivers. The spring-loaded pliers are a nice-touch, and the bottle opener is a must at the end of a tough day. For such quality you would expect to pay double.
