We have always insisted on rejecting buffalo, we use full-grain cowhide leather, which is known to be the topmost layer of the cowhide, the most durable and highly valued skin of the animal.
And we screen for the second time when cutting the leather, and only choose the big ones that have almost no scars, creases, or particularly uneven colors.

Natural characteristics of pull-up leather
-Different parts of the cowhide absorb different dyes, so occasionally color unevenness may occur.
-The Full-grain leather does not have much artificial decoration and coating, it is easy to scratch and looks "old".
-The process of hand-made products and the process of customs inspection of the package may produce some fingerprints and scratches. Especially obvious on dark leather. These are not product quality defects.
You don't have to worry about these scratches, precisely because of the characteristics of natural leather, it contains a rich oil layer, which will make the scratches fade away with use. This also means that your portfolio can withstand rough use.
This leather characteristic can also make the product more "personal", for example, you can get a unique mark by gently scratching with your finger, and it will disappear after wiping it with a clean soft cloth. Deep scratches can be wiped with leather care.

I bought this as "something leather" for my husband for our third anniversary. I was initially nervous that for the lower price and purchasing on Amazon, this would be a lower quality item, but the portfolio is absolutely beautiful! I was hoping for a heritage product my husband could carry with him throughout his career, and this certainly met the bill. Very well made, very functional, and delivered right on time.When I first opened the package, I did notice that there were two small indents, as if something heavy had sat on the leather or left a mark during shipping. (Note, it was not a tear, simply a small indentation) When I reached out to the company to see if there were any at-home remedies, they let me know that only time could get the leather to relax, so they immediately shipped me a new portfolio to arrive in time for our anniversary. It actually arrived next-day.If you're on the fence, you should definitely go ahead and purchase. Excellent company, wonderful product, I highly recommend. I have no regrets and my husband absolutely loved it!

This Gauvarnie portfolio is in league with products costing twice as much and far superior to bargain leather portfolios that I have seen. The leather has the intoxicating aroma, the glove soft feel and the rich depth of color that only high quality leather provides. The construction is detailed and solid. For me, the size is just right, small enough to fit into a briefcase, just big enough to function on its own. It just fits my 13” MacBook Pro, might fit MacBook 14” but not anything bigger. Still has room for an iPad and cell phone. The paper tablet can be inserted for left or right hand use with an extra slot beneath it for loose papers. My only drawback is the cell phone pocket is a very tight fit for my iPhone 14 Pro Max such that I don’t put my phone there. It’s a great fit for my work phone which is a 4.7 inch screen. It had minimal but adequate packing, great for avoiding waste, but if a gift you might need a box. Overall, highly recommended if you want a high quality product.

Although this item appears to be well-made and I am happy with the purchase it’s still needs a few tweaks. The tweak needs to be in the phone holder. I have an iPhone but I have to take it out of the case to use the holder but it still doesn’t fit well. That is a big inconvenience so it really makes the phone holder unusable for me. Two pen holders to the left of phone slot. Eliminating one of them would have made more room in the phone slot. Too, if one card slot was eliminated that too would allow the phone pouch to be deeper.You could also have kept the notepad, I do not see the need for it.Scratches easily and zipper doesn’t open easily.I received a letter with it that said it was a small company and how it started. The plastic sleeve that it was in said it was made in China.

Very well made with high quality materials. Don't be concerned about comments on size. It is easy to carry and it is not at all bulky or too long. Fits my 13 inch computer perfectly and easily carries all my daily business needs (pens, phone, note pad, agenda, papers...). Looks good and is well priced. I looked a long time before I choose this brand and I am not disappointed.

I have been looking for a good leather padfolio for a couple of weeks. Looked at everything online and read all the reviews. I needed something not to big or heavy, but something with a place for everything. This seemed to be the one. I just recieved it this morning and so far I am impressed with the quality. I have been searching for a quality, affordable leather portfolio for years and I finally found it. When I first opened the package I was shocked by how good it looked and felt. I have resisted many portfolios in the past because of there cost and/or quality. This portfolio is worth every penny I paid for it. I was concerned by a couple comments that said how "enormous" or "gigantic" the portfolio was, but I will say this to help clarify. If you have any experience with a typical zip up portfolio designed around the 8 1/2x 11 inch writing pad, this one is only slightly larger than those. YKK zippers, pen sleeves that easily hold my over size pens, well thought out layout and nice thick leather that looks and feels amazing. It is very easy to see that these are hand made and should last a very long time. Heck, even the writing pad that they include is high quality. I love this thing and I think that most people will be very happy with it.
