Purchased for a 2011 Honda Civic EX. (This is a common failure point on this generation of civic.. as are the front wheel bearings. There are cheaper after-market solutions available for this part, but I always go as OEM as possible on replacement parts for Honda/Toyota. It's nice if you only have to do the labor once instead of every 30 days.. ;)

Was not too difficult to install, just tight space in my 2008 Honda Civic Si. Make sure you get it lined up right. When I first installed it I guess I moved the function slider out of place and only the defrost and the floor would blow. I had to pull it all back apart and set the slider correctly. Be sure to check and make sure it's working correctly before you tighten it all down.

For those of you who bought a Dorman Mode Motor or equivalent, this is the part to get for the following two reasons. First, it is the OEM part for my Honda Civic, meaning it will fit and work right. It may not last any longer than a Dorman, but at least it fits.Second and most important, this part number comes with the white nylon cam. When I replaced my OEM mode motor assembly with the Dorman, the motor wasn't working. Dorman seemed to be the right solution i.e. replace only what went wrong, right? Turns out I was wrong, because when I retrofitted the original OEM nylon cam on to the new Dorman motor, It slipped on but not tight. 8 months later, my AC started to fail again. It is a pain in the butt to get to this part and its mounting screws, but I wanted a clear view of the motor and cam actuating as I pushed the switches on the console. The cam had a wobble to it, and the door and flap "nipples" were jumping the cam's two channels. The cam was literally being pushed away from the nipples. The Dorman motor was still good, but I wanted a part with the cam installed correctly. I lucked out coming to Amazon and this part. I installed it, everything works fine, and I start another test to see how long this part lasts. I expect it will last as long as the original OEM part, about 10 years. To see clearly what is going on, one has to remove both the glove compartment and the duct that brings air from the blender box to the passenger legs. Only then will you have a clear view. It also allows for easy removal and install, since you can see everything. The hardest part of this operation is the removal of the Mode Motor Assembly upper mounting screw.

This product was not easy to install but it worked perfectly. It took me some time to remove then install. It may have helped if I had the right tools but otherwise the part fit perfectly on my 2011 Civic. Just be sure to line the assembly up correctly when you put it in and transfer some grease from the old part to the replacement. Test it before you cover things back up so you don't end up having to tear it all out again. Worth the money to do it myself.

The product itset is a good product, it's a genuine Honda part which I always suggest to a Honda owner. You will have to drop the glove box, empty it out first. You squeeze in the sides and push down. It will move how you need it too before it breaks I promise. In my model year it was connected with a green plug, disconnect that by squeezing the tab along the long side and pulling after. It's 3 7mm course threaded fasteners to get it off but damn they are in a tight spot. Better have a good 1/4 socket set and some decent light. Battery ratchet will help if small enough. Take note that once you get it off you are gonna have to plug in the new unit and let it go to where ever you have the air blowing out of when it got stuck. After doing that align the unit to the diverted arms and also to the alignment studs where you took off the fasteners. Now heres where your gonna be happy you bought a good 1/4 ratchet with fine gear teeth. Pro tip use a litt bit of masking tape over the socket and push the fastener in to help keep it in it while you try to get it into the holes.Make sure to test it once you got it in . Blamo you saved yourself a few hundred bucks and got some new tools that next thing bthat breaks you can fix it yourself.

I have a 2011 Honda Civic and I can typically handle small repairs, battery changes/charge, flat tire, oil change, air filters and after researching I found confidence into undergoing this repair as well.First, I watched on YouTube was how to self diagnose, at home, the issue. Followed the instructions and based on the light flashes determined it was a code 4 for mode control motor. Next, I watched another YouTube video on what to look for and how to test the new mode control motor, ordered from here, as well as how to replace it. There are 4 major components to remove: the cover for the floor vent, the floor exhaust vent, glove box and malfunctioning mode motor control then about 6/7 screws/bolts and a wire. Typically a one person job and about an hour. I enlisted the help on someone else and spent two hours. I am the type of person (anxious) that needs to have everything organized and a plan laid out while I watched the "how to video". Most of the time was spent removing and adding the screws/bolts, the area is a tight and limited squeeze. There are other wires and parts, so just be mindful nothing gets unplugged (just reconnect it) or removed that is not needed. Patience is a MUST!Also, a silicone is need for the groves on the mode motor control.I am sure I would have spent WAY more at the shop, double the MU % on the product + diagnosis + labor +fees + taxes. More than that, I am satisfied with my labor and this product.
