Ordered 2 trunk latches. One Honda Certified. One Not. Honda certified part appeared to be more cheaply made and at an additional 50$ price tag. Honda certified part did not included a small plastic clip used to hold the key hole rod.The non-certified part more closely resembled my original broken latch that i removed. It had the plastic rod clip AND came with additional hex bolts.In the end I didn't even try the certified part. Why? My car is 20 years old, and the cost and quality were less favorable then the other part.

My wife has a 2004 Honda civic that we use to go to the farm. The latch for this series of Honda has been a thorn in everyones side. The trunk lid does not want to latch properly. After purchasing a latch on ebay and still having the problem I purchased a new one. After installing the new one the problem still persisted. I managed to correct the problem by unscrewing the trunk striker and turning it 180 degrees around. I can now latch the trunk ever single time I close it. It doesn't have to be slammed, nor gently pushed. Just a normal push will close and latch it. I may not have need this new latch if I had reversed the catch in the first place. I think everyone has problem with this, must have been installed wrong at the factor and never corrected.

Love the ease of bolt off and on. Genuine (OEM in poetic package) part, no confusion, with piece of mind. Product arrived 3 days after purchase, which was at the earliest (free shipping) promised date. Don't like the fact that Honda hasn't improved the design, which means that plastic part of the latch will probably break again in the future. Be sure you save the plastic clip from the (rod clip) old part, as it's not included here. Seller provided and delivered. Would buy again.

It fit perfectly. For the last 4 yrs my dad had to tie down his trunk or slam it to shut only for it to open while driving. This item has made the old man very happy. Although he is noe a bit paranoid about its longevity lol

Super easy to install and works great. I lived with a broken latch for years sometime taking five minutes to get it to catch and hold closed. If I knew how easy it was to replace, I would have done it right away. Also very glad I did not take it to the dealer. If you can operate a ratchet you can replace this device.

Perfect replacement for my girlfriends 2002 Honda Civic DX. Easy removal of old latch and install of the new one.Just know you are ONLY getting what's in the picture (the latch), no extra things come with it. So that little piece of plastic that pulls/hooks on the cable above the latch, keep the old one if it's still good or buy a new one because this doesn't come with it. Almost threw it away.
