yes, the instructions are a bit cryptic, and I needed a few reads to understand fully, but it does sharpen drill bits very well. I have a fairly good grinder wheel (120 Grit Silicon Carbide) and with some practice, I now have drills that do well using my hand drill and drill press. And after some more practice with this attachment, using the sharpened drills in my bench metal lathe now makes holes that are not larger than the size of the drill.I recommend this drill bit sharpening attachment to anyone who uses drills often and is willing to invest a little time to master it.

I set mine up on a belt grinder. Throw away the included instructions which are useless and incorrect. This grinding attachment was originally sold by Snap-On Tools and you would be well advised to find those instructions for proper set up. I found them from pictures of the inside of the box. Or look up a few online videos. Works great all the way down to 3/16" bits. I wouldn't bother with smaller sizes as they are inexpensive to replace.

This sharpener works great! You have to spend a little time working on aligning the cutting edge of the bit against the sharpener but once you figure out how to get the indexing right on that aspect you can quickly mount and sharpen your bits. The handle and wing nut in the photo are purchased off Amazon M-12 bolt and handle with M-12 wing nut. The slot is a little smaller than 12mm but I just filed it out a bit to accept the 12mm bolt a 10 mm prob fit a little loose but no filing. Make sure your mount is solid and squared up to your sharpener.

I'm glad I only paid $22 because this will go in the trash most likely. The way it mounts and the lack of any type of fixed positioning make it useless to me. I worked in metal fabrication and have hand sharpened bits by just using a rest at the grinder for decades and most likely will continue to do so. Some say they have had sucess with this sharpening guide and I guess it CAN be done but I find myself more consistant freehand sharpening.

This GENERAL Tools Drill Bit sharpener works really well. After reading just one review with a video, from someone that knows what their doing, and he did, I got one. And yes, it does 1/8" drill bits also!!! I have found absolutely no issues with this sharpener and have used it around 16 times mostly on 1/8" bits, and getting to the bigger ones. If you see bad reviews? Good chance they are wrong. If it is defective? Amazon would go good on it, and you get another one, it's that simple!!

It works as described. No real directions to speak of but if you are the type of person that’s in the market for a drill bit sharpener than I suppose you could figure this out no problem. It took me about 1 1/2 beers to install it on my bench next to the grinder and another 1 beer to figure out how it works. It works great by the way. I sharpened about 10 bits from small up to about 5/8” or so. Easy to adjust and if you use just a tad bit of Common Sense anybody can figure it out. Great buy

Set up was quick and easy. Tested it on a few different sized bits and it worked perfectly as advertised.

Update: There is a learning curve. The angle setting works better if the spring clamp holding the bit uses minimal pressure to hold the bit down. This allows the thumb screw to adjust the bit and improve accuracy when turning the bit and reclamping. The closer you can keep the tip guide to the stone helps keep the chisel point shaped correctly.I like the price and the set up. The center point measured pretty close. However, using the 59 deg setting to produce a 118 deg bit did not work. Measured about 90 deg. Using the 68 deg setting seems to produce the 118 deg result (should have been 136 deg by the book). Next step is to grind a few old bits to see if practice helps produce useable bits. I do believe the 59 deg setting is wrong but if the 68 degree setting yields the 118 deg bit that I want then it will work.

With no information included it is difficult to fathom out how to use it accurately. I managed to find a video on U tube of a similar jig.Having followed that example iI find it is easier and better to grind the drills by hand without the jig
