I recently replaced the battery in my Avalanche and noticed a clattering noise coming from the thing above the drivers seat that looks like a small microphone. It’s actually the aspirator to sample the cabin temperature for the automatic climate control.Anyway, it’s a little difficult to get to this part in and out, but you can do it with enough determination. Once you have it switched out it’s as silent as a church mouse, and ready for another twenty years of service.

I had a buzzing sound from above my head and I notice my heat would only get hot if I set the temp all the way up. This is the interior temp sensor for the HVAC system. Quick install fixed both issues. My original part was filled with dust on the sensor and the fan causing inaccurate temp readings and the buzzing noise from the fan.2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LTZ extended cab

Just bought a 2011 Silverado 1500 and this had been taped over with painters tape. I took off the tape and I knew why! It made a terrible whine in your ear. Pull off the drivers visor and A pillar cover and loosen the seatbelt cover after opening ext cab door. Pull down the headliner and pull that sucker out and put back in and replace it all. Took about 20 minutes all told. Played with temp controls and could feel heat go up and down accordingly. All is well for now!

This was a fairly simple part to replace, but I would recommend watching a video first on YouTube.This fixes the problem of no heat unless you adjust to 90*F, then you get all the heat like a blast furnace. The head control unit just needs to know an accurate cabin temp so it can operate the climate control.

Works well, is an OEM part, and the best part gets rid of that Hum above your head when the old one fails.Bit of a pain to get in, you will need hook tools and small hands unless you pull half your headliner down. Even then you are pulling off most of A pillar and part of B pillar to get to this thing, it's not fun but an hour or so and you are good to go.

Old one was chattering --- Ignored till I found this reasonably priced --- temp control now works, no noise -- I have not verified yet but I think the old one was also causing a current drain which seems to have stopped. Watch videos and remove trim and you can replace it in 30min or so.Edit: This was the current drain -- been over a year and have not had to keep the vehicle on charger since this was replaced. I have replaced many other things trying to stop the drain but either this was the drain or it was the last issue.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD and a 2007 Chevy Silverado with heaters that would only work on the 90 degree setting. I ordered two of these...one for each vehicle. Once installed, the temperature controls worked like new. I googled the process for removing the old and installing new sensors, but didn't get sufficient detail to understand the process. The plastic trim on both sides of the driver sided door needs to be partially removed, to allow the headliner to be pulled down enough to squeeze your hands in to reach the sensor. Then the real problems start. First, disconnecting the wires from the sensor required breaking off the retainer clip on the sensor, then getting a pointed object in to pry the plug loose. That meant getting my "thick" hands into a tight space and doing work mostly by feel. The next problem was disconnecting the small round speaker looking grate from the sensor. It has four "legs" with hooks that snap into the sensor. The hook needs to be pushed towards the center of the grate, while pulling down on the sensor cover. Installation was a piece of cake.

Exact fit and got rid of the annoying sound of the old one. If you have a sunroof on the vehicle that you are changing the part in , go in through the sunroof after the trim is removed...only took 5 mins on my 2008 silverado 2500.
