This is a great addition to any toolbelt. There is a lot of functionality in this compact unit. You can test from 0° to 180° with the auto rotating display. You can find true zero or set your zero to reference what ever surface you need to. The magnetic base is also a nice touch so you can adhere it to ferrous materials like pipe or a saw base or blade. The only think I don't really like is the AAA battery. It does last a while, but this would be 5 stars if it were USB-C rechargeable.

The GemRed Angle Gauge offers a decent level of accuracy (± 0.2°) and a clear display with auto-rotation. I found the V-groove bottom useful for measuring angles on uneven surfaces. However, I did experience some minor inconsistencies in readings, particularly when measuring angles close to 90 degrees. The backlight feature is helpful in low-light conditions, but the buttons felt a bit stiff. Still a huge upgrade to what I've used in the past. No real complaints!

This angle gauge performed well. The readings are consistent and seem accurate based on my limited testing. The gauge does have an annoying tendency to display ERR when it is not held vertically, and there isn't a lot of room for error, if you'll excuse the pun. At first I thought maybe it needed calibration, or was DOA. But as I fiddled with it, reorienting it, I noticed it suddenly flashed some numbers. Experimentation revealed that you really have to keep the gauge substantially vertical to get a measurement. The magnet, which is on the gauge only, is strong enough to hold the gauge in place. Also, you can make measurements holding any of the 4 sides to the surface. If you flip it upside down it inverts the digits on the display, which is nice, but if you are measuring using either of the sides the numbers are oriented vertically. I like that it uses a single standard AAA battery rather than some other odd size. I also feel this is preferable to using a rechargeable battery because, for me at least, this is the type of tool I won't use too often and it would no doubt be dead when I did go to use it. Popping in a fresh AAA is quick and easy. The reason I deducted 1 star is that there is no backlight.

I ordered this angle gauge to more accurately set angles on the bandsaw for cutting. This device arrives in a box, with instructions and a single AAA battery. The battery cover is secured with three screws – unscrew, insert battery and close the battery cover. This angle gauge has a magnetic bottom so it stays on your metal base while you set your appropriate angle. There are two buttons on the front – an on/off and a hold button. You press the on button to turn it on, press & hold to turn off. Instantly it reads the angle of your surface down to the tenth of a degree. While using this gauge, it seemed to read accurately. The instructions are a fold out sheet, written in English and explains each of the functions very clearly. Overall, I’m very pleased with this digital angle gauge. This will make a great addition to my shop.

The biggest advantage of this unit over manual devices is that it shows you large illuminated numbers rather than you having to look at a scale or a bubble. I expect to be using this mostly for mounting things horizontally.POINTS TO KNOW- The manufacturer claims 0.2 degree accuracy.- The cover for the single alkaline AAA cell is held in place with three screws that go into threaded inserts. So remember to replace the cell before it leaks.- The display is brightest when seen from above. So when you flip it you'll hopefully be looking from below, right?- Has magnet on the bottom only. Strong enough but not super-strong.- Display window isn't recessed much, so you may want to keep the clingy screen protector in place.- Both absolute and relative modes. (Of course!)- Option to "recalibrate" should you ever need to. That means making sure that the unit reads the same when the display is pointed away from you.- Groove in base ensures proper centering on pipes.- When you don't keep it upright it reads "Err".
