Nuff said, they're cheap lasers from amazon.

These are 6mm diameter and pretty decent for this type of module. Spot is about 5mm in size at 600mm but reasonable brightness, but not as bright as a laser pointer. No focus adjustment.Draws 15mA at 3.6v, 25 mA at 4.3v and 30mA at 4.9v, increases rapidly above 5v so might shorten the life above 4.8v.Note wire colour is reversed black is positive.

Very very affordable and straightforward just attach a 5 v (dc) power supply and away you go I use units like these to help in a number of setups as an alignment aid

I'm happy. They all work and are as bright as I need. It's easy to focus the beam. Great value!

Junk. The laser lights work for a few minuses at 5V and then looses its brightness. THere is no specs for the current (Amp) and that may be the problem. Buy those for 12V DC and make sure the Amperage rating is specified.

These are worth what you pay for them. All ten of mine worked, and were nice and bright, but, even at 10' the "dot" was too large for my purposes (.25" to .5") and fuzzy, and there was significant variation in the shape. Some were more of a short line, up to 1" long. I'd be quite happy to pay more for an item with a more precise dot -- say .125" at 10' and crisp and round. If anyone has suggestions where to get such a thing, please comment.

For what these things cost, I'm very pleased. I usually have a couple bags of this type around for student and/or personal projects and they are good generic lasers. Somebody needs to make a laser harp? All set with these? Want to transmit audio over laser? These will work as well with proper supporting circuitry. They run on 5V which is nice since there's not really any danger of blowing them out in a lab setting like the 3.3V variants you'll find out there. The only issue I would bring up is that these are not 5mW... but I don't see this as a problem. When buying parts in these price ranges from Amazon dealers, we need to remind ourselves that this is a little bit the wild west and should always use crowd-sourced feedback/information/documentation rather than the name of parts and what the seller guarantees. At this price point, we should not fool ourselves into expecting a well-quantified laser output. Think of that number as an upper limit which the seller probably put to clearly indicate that this is not a class III laser device. I did some measurements and was getting as low as 1mW from some of these units. If you really need 5mW, be prepared to buy parts from a dealer with a bit more documentation to back it up.

I bought a set of these for a little project at work and love them. Each laser worked great the first time, no problems whatsoever. Quite bright, even at 50'-60' and relatively tight. For my purposes they are just the right tool for the job.

Based on the price I was not expecting much, but these have worked out great. I get a bright, steady dot for the doggie chase toy and level indicator that I've built. Can't go wrong if you're looking for inexpensive, hobby laser diodes. 5 VDC is perfect for these guys. Great for Arduino projects.
