This drum is very much like a rain stick concept. But the contents making the sound is enclosed between two wood discs. It does give a surf moving sound. It works best if you slowly tip one edge down and then continue around the edge pivoting. Like a spinning coin when it's about to stop turning and land. Slower creates a better calm sound. The finish is very clean and well made. The surface is very smooth, and the design on it is just like the image in the listing. Pretty cool for just tuning out, and listening to it like waves.

Very cool ocean drum, sounds pretty good, but it's kind of expensive I think. The painting on the outside is really cool though.

Feels good quality. Labeled as a drum, but does not sound like any drum I could use. Nice sound when tilting back-and-forth and projects. If that is the sole intended usage, it sounds great. Percussion instrument should be the lable, not 'drum'.

Very soothing and fun to use, build quality feels great and the sound is amazing. Learning to use it as quite easy as there is no right way to play with this, the sound always seems to be soothing and fun. My cats absolutely hate this thing though.
