I was so glad to find this on Amazon. My GE fridge is several years old and never had a moment's problem with it. It warmed up and I noticed the compressor would start and stop after about 3-5 seconds. After diagnosing and searching for likely causes, everything pointed to the Overload and start relay. I removed the old one and it rattled when I shook it. This is a telltale sign the unit is bad. Before ordering, I read reviews because it looks different than mine. I doubted it was a replacement but the reviews put my mind at ease. I also found this picture showing the correct wiring since this is an upgraded model of the OEM.The location on the compressor on my GE makes it al little difficult to see how it plugs in but after comparing the back side 3 plug sockets on the original vs the new one, I could then be certain it was oriented correctly. Then just feeling for the sockets was much easier and it snapped right in.As soon as I was done, I plugged it in and right away I knew that the problem was solved. It runs great and back to normal.

Worked fine to replace the older black part. Price seems high, although cheaper here than other places. Not sure why a simple start relay costs that much?

Manufacturer upgraded part for a GE fridge wiring picture. New part is different than the original part but is the correct upgrade. Very fast shipping. Customer support is top notch. They sent me the above photo of the wiring that no one else had, including GE.

The Amazon pull down part verification tool said the part was compatible with a GE GDS18SBPARSS refrigerator. Not so actually. The functionality is the same but the #2 spade lug (middle spades in picture sitting next to each other) on the new part has a wider spade lug so it won't accept the fridge wiring harnesses stock plug.If you want to use this part you'll need to cut the plug off your fridge wiring harness and crimp a new one on of the correct size. And don't cut an extra millimeter of wire off with the plug because or the new plug won't reach the new part, the wiring is pretty tight. FYI, the new PTC thermistor resistance across pins 5 & 6 (backside) in this part is 7.0 ohms. I'm sure someone is troubleshooting and would like to know that. I did..... The old thermistor gets hot from cyclic heating, they start arcing, and or they shatter inside. If you shake your Overload/PTC and hear what sounds like a maraca, the PTC thermistor inside has self destructed.

Perfect fit for my GE side-beside and it cost a fraction of what the local retailer would have charged me.
