I tried this assembly and it saved me from buying a new washer. 6 loads so far and working smooth.

Perfect replacement for GE Washer model number: GTW460ASJ0WWOn my first test wash, the washer made a terrible grinding noise when the agitator was running.I rechecked my installation and noticed that one of the 2 bolts holding in the actuator was not completely screwed tight. This prevented the actuator from completely disengaging the white clutch from the black pulley when in agitation mode.Once that bolt was tightened up, everything ran fine.

Whirpool GTW330ASKOWW top loader washing machine.First thing I want to say is I don’t know yet why this would be a frequently returned item. I have a feeling the low reviews are probably people that didn’t know what they were doing when they attempted this replacement themselves. I recommend replacing the rubber belt also with this repair.I have never done this repair before but here’s my take on it. I do work on cars and have tools so I am mechanically inclined. If this repair is ignored, it can damage your electric motor and belts, by putting extra strain on them and cause premature failure.Symptoms:Loud grinding noise during spin cycle.Spinning agitator/drum by hand back and forth you could feel the grinding. There’s only a few moving parts, and the one that made sense to me was this part only. The drum and the electric motor are the only other two moving parts and the transmission is the most heavy duty spinning part on this washer that holds the weight of the clothes and water. So it only makes sense for it to be this.Tools needed:Socket set and long extensions33mm deep socket (deep enough to fit around the shaft that the agitator assembly tower bolts to) Electric impact driver (or air supplied)Small screwdriver, pick, or needle nose pliersThread penetrant sprayPossibly a setaline or butane torchRubber malletOld towelCheck out videos on YouTube on how to do this repair first. Many models of whirlpool washers use the same exact part and the procedure is all the same. It took me probably a couple of hours, but to do it again, I could do this in 30-60 minutes now that I know what I’m doing.Remove agitator towerSoak large nut on top of the transmission shaft in the bottom of the drum - may need heat also - this nut is reverse threaded tooTilt washer back to gain access underneathRemove plastic cover - will probably have grease all on it from failed seal on old transmission assemblyRemove beltRemove plastic pulliesUnplug all wire connectorsRemove transmission gear selector (plastic horseshoe shaped actuator)Remove electric motorRemove transmission mounting bolts around perimeter of transmission assembly(You do not need to remove water actuator valve or drain hose)Tilt washer back down on the floor with towel underneathLoosen 33mm nut inside washer drumHit transmission shaft with rubber mallet and assembly should drop out of the bottom of the washing machine. Please note there are thin washers included with this kit that need to go back in the same order. One on the transmission shaft before installing on the bottom of the washing machine, and a thick washer and thin washer on top then the large nut.It has the rubber seal preinstalled so it should seal up nicely.Clean surfaces before reinstalling in reverse order. Do not overtighten transmission bolts that go into plastic threads. I recommend running a small empty load prior to use just to check for operation and leaks, and clean any oil residue out of this inside before putting clothes in it.I’m on the 3rd load of laundry since finishing this repair and everything is working normally, no leaking, it is much quieter and smoother.Final take:Great value for the money. A new washing machine comparable to this one is $500 -$900. A repair person to come out is probably half that. This part was just over $100 and should last a long time being a genuine Whirpool replacement part. Anyone with basic tool and repair knowledge and a little common sense can do this installation.

Perfect fit, as you'd expect. Quiets the noises (in my case squeaking) that indicate a failing transmission. I will update this review eventually about how well the item is lasting; considering my last transmission was failing after only 2.5 years.Installation is straight forward, if not exactly easy. Please watch the video on YT from Repair Clinic, it's perfect. Here are my added tips. It helps immensely if you have a few specialized tools. First is a gear-puller, or faucet handle puller. The belt pulleys are very difficult to remove without one. Even an inexpensive $10-to-$15 puller works fine. Also, a 33mm deep socket helps a lot with the large nut on the center spindle (it has to be a deep socket to fit over the spindle). If you have an air or heavy duty electric impact wrench, that helps a LOT in getting the large nut off the top of the spindle; just remember that nut is reverse threaded (clockwise to loosen). When removing the wire anchors from the old transmission, you can use a 5/32 socket to compress the little tabs; the tabs are hard to reach, but a socket makes this process infinitely easier. When you remove the pump from the base of the tub, and later stand the washer up to knock out the old transmission, a fair amount of water will come out, so be sure to have towels down. Finally, the edges are sharp, if you don't wear gloves, expect several cuts on your hands. Personally, I find it hard to work in gloves, so now I have four cuts on my hands. :) This unit came with large washers, the large spindle nut, and new pulley nuts, but most of the screws and bolts you will be removing need to be reused, so keep track of them carefully.

Before you tear your washer apart! I did not open the box till I had the washer apart cause it said frequently sent back...This kit comes with 3 post zip ties to reattach the wiring. So if you break the old ones it's ok. It came with a replacement nut (part 604) for the transmission pully. A new washer (part 323) for the spring on the actuator that goes on the transmission pully. It also came with a new 33mm nut (part 315) for the tub. This nut is Reverse thread so it comes off turning to the right. The new washer (part 314) has a green dot, that goes up. It also comes with a new screw with oring for the agitator. What it does not come with and you should clean up and reuse the old one. Is the washer (part 313) that fits the transmission post that goes on the post between the transmission side of the tub. That still needs to go back in.I tore down my entire washer and cleaned all the buildup inside the tub. The transmission seals are dry. You can buy the grease if you want. I used an extremely light coat of Lithium Moly on the outside part of the tub seal to help seat it and prevent a leak. Same with the drain seal. Instal was simple. Fit perfect, the screws will re tap themselves for mounting the small stuff. Washer sounds great, no leaks, and runs good. Do a warm water cycle prior to help seat the seal.

Unfortunately think this product is bad. Got the item and worked on installing it. By the time I had every tool in to get the old part off I was beyond the return window. Installed part and now it just throws the barrel around the washer making a loud clanging noise. Replaced the springs issue still persists. Used this part to fix a bearing squeal and now washer is useless. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. BUY A QUALITY PART.
