This was purchased to go around a post to hold an interior door of a divided chicken coop shut. It works great for the lightweight door (bottom part plywood, upper part 2"x4" welded wire mesh/fencing). It's handy that it comes with small carabiner-style fasteners at both ends, so no additional parts were needed to use it. Otherwise, it would have needed either small carabiner snaps or the kind of chain links that have the opening that screws open and shut.
